Dirt/CC diff settings question

Can someone give me some pointers on how they are setting up their diffs on dirt and CC tunes? Typically I’m setting the front diff to 60/40 accel/decel. The rear I’m doing 100% acceleration. The center diff I’m around 60-75% to the rear wheels. What do you guys find that works best?

For Dirt I usually start at 15/5 for the front and 50/45 for the back, though there is a lot of variation here between builds.

For Offroad I’m usually starting out at 50/25 front and 75/65 back. Locked diffs are great for getting you unstuck or over extremely rough terrain, but they are actually pretty terrible for racing.

As for center diff, that can vary so wildly between different cars, chassis, suspension setups, and engine placements that dictating a rule of thumb is probably more harmful than helpful.

A tip for front diff testing; take a fwd, give it “a bit too much” hp`s and do a roadtest. See how much diffbrake you can add
before it starts to understeer.

for CC:

i typically set my center differential between 50-60. i like it there because the car’s more stable. fewer spinouts

i set my rear acceleration below 50 because traction improves at lower values

i set my front acceleration below 10 since i already have my center differential set for a front bias relatively. this helps prevent snap oversteer

deceleration settings are largely personal preference. the lower you set them, the more aggressive your car will engine brake, but the less controllable your car will be under braking. i set my CC deceleration differentials pretty low relative to road cars because finesse isn’t really required

Thanks for the insight guys. I will work on some tunes and maybe share them here if you guys are interested in taking them for a test drive.

For what it’s worth, it seems fh5 has drastically revamped how the diffs work. In fh4 I would run 100 accel front and rear, and 0 decel front 100 rear.

Fh5 I’m finding doing this makes the car and understeering pig. I’m finding values of 50 or less accel in rear and 15-10 accel in front are ideal. I’m running 0 decel front and back, it helps turn in and lift off oversteer.

My driving habits are to lift off and cut the wheel to initiate a turn, so any lift off oversteer I can introduce benefit my times drastically.
