I originally purchased the game on disc, then decided to buy a digital copy for the PC.
Now the Xbox has updated the license to the digital one.
The problem is now I was on the PC and my partner wanted to log into her account on the Xbox and race me. The Xbox popped up a warning and said the game is in use on another device and wouldn’t let her, so she put the disc in and the same thing…
So I own 2 games + 2 licenses but can still only play it on one device?
Do I need to do a special dance or something, this is utterly stupid.
Most likely I will have to uninstall the game and install from the disk again - any advise?
Make sure that you arent logged into the xbox with your account
Cant have your account logged into 2 devices at one time playing the same game
Even if its not the active gamertag it is still in the background
I get this issue all the time due to auto login with the controller
How do I log into a different account? (this is the special dance i was referring to)
I have changed via switch user, Is there something different to do - I assumed that was changing the account that’s logged in on the xbox..

Hi, I can’t help you with your problem but I can tell you that I have the digital copy. When my grandchildren come round we play play together, one screen and xbox for me and a different screen and xbox for them. So it is possible.
