Difficulty settings and cockpit view

Still somewhat new to the game. Two questions.

  1. What difficulty setting do you guys tend to play at? I know it has to be adjusted all the time depending on the track etc, I tend to use expert or pro but the further into the game I get, the harder pro becomes. Expert is a nice challenge for the first lap or 2 and then I get ahead so far that I wont see the AI again for the whole race unless I make a mistake. I kinda wish there was an in between difficulty and I hope forza 8 has better AI without drivatars.

And 2.

Does anyone else exclusively use cockpit view? I came to this game after Dirt 4 which required cockpit view to get really good times and to see the track fully, so on Forza its the first thing I did. I find it much easier this way and I love how T10 managed to recreate the cockpit for every vehicle in the game, and the incar sounds are awesome. I know im missing out on eyecandy of the car a bit but I can see that in replays or sometimes on straight roads I do a quick 360 look around the car before going back to cockpit view lol

I like the new cockpit view without the steering wheel, but there are some cars where the visibility is too awful to use either of the cockpit views.

I also drive from cockpit view all the time although i find the lighting a bit off at times. Looking outside is either a bit too dark of too bright when compared with how the game looks when driving from the hood view. Also i wish i could adjust my seat. In some cars i feel i sit too far from the wheel. Its still better than in Forza 5 and 6 though. There you at times felt like driving from the back seats.

Unbeatable with all assists off. Cockpit view with the animated arms and wheel because the preferred 2nd cockpit view option is basically unusable.

honestly its because of the drivatars that cars are spreading out really bad in races on forza 7,most people drive like trash"intentionally" ,pressure you out of braking zones to miss turns, cut corners for faster lap times, this results in drivatars that can drive cars faster than physically possible. i swear this AI model is not even close to gran turismo 4’s AI which had full awareness and did things that made sense in races. what i noticed on forza 7 is that they are worse than forza 6 apex drivatars. they dont want to pass you on long stretches or straight aways. they like to coast right behind you diagonally on the straights and then pressure you in the braking zone and then try to overtake around tight corners even on the outside,if You are on the inside of a corner, they are going to drive straight into you. its inexcusable of turn 10 to put out such garbage. I play on unbeatable because its the only challenge for me “only the top 3 drivers are my challenge” and i always recommend cockpit view because of perspective you are getting in the car.cockpit view and the one after it without the steering wheel (presumably for people with wheels and pedals) these in my opinion are the best cameras because of what i said earlier. if you have real life driving experience you will tend to treat the video game driving as if you are driving in real life because you have to take into account the right side of your car(for left hand drivers),one reason is for the realism of the game, the other is because of experience. would you rather be floating above your car in real life? my whole thing about taking this stance is it is more immersive, therefore you will treat it as if you are actually driving a real car.

Thats basically my experience with AI too, except once in a blue moon one of the AI cars behind me on a straight will out of nowhere blast off in front, its always only one car though. They seem to generally need a massive gap between you and them or they get scared and tap the brakes which pushes them back again. But yea cockpit view gives you much better feedback of what the car is doing even without a wheel.

I drive in either cockpit views, with or without the wheel. Liking the new view. Or if the visibility is severely limited by the car, bonnet view.
I race against unbeatable in freeplay, but in career, anything expert or below just for sp to clear the championship.
The career mode is a terrible chore to me. I just want it over with and get back to freeplay.

The new in car view with out the wheel is great,no hands or wheel to bother me now,i think its great, makes having a wheel so much better!!!

I find myself using cockpit view more often then I did before due to how much it has improved over the last game. It is very immersive now, especially with headphones in.

As for difficulty, I usually play on Pro if it is a shorter race, or Unbeatable if it is a long race since there is lots of time to catch the leaders. I have to drop the difficulty down to Expert on Sebring though as the Drivatars seem to turn into gods on that track.

No STM, TCS, ABS, or friction assist, normal steering, manual with clutch, braking line only

I only play in 3rd person, I can’t see anything in any other view.

Yeah, I used to play in chase cam exclusively, but starting with 5 it really made me feel disconnected from the steering. While I like having a bit of interior for window dressing, the current cockpit views are only really “realistic” or “immersive” if one is accustomed to driving with one eye shut while wearing blinders. When the lack of visibility becomes a problem, I tend to favour the hood cam but occasionally have to go to one of the chase cams.

I never really got into first person, I’ve been a tag/online player since FM4 so I’m always on my guard.

I race with Cockpit cam, no assists other than the Braking Line, Normal steering.

Member “Sokhat Soldier1” is absolutely right unfortunately. :frowning: The Drivatar was a great concept but Turn 10 forgot to build an atmosphere of clean, fair racing around the game, effectively ruining the idea. So people will do bad things online, which their Drivatars learn, and then you want to race offline to avoid the aggression of online players and get pestered by the virtual versions of bad players anyway.

If Turn 10 doesn’t want to implement rules, they should use one of their staff to moderate online races. The Leagues at the very least should be moderated. I hope one day they learn that this stuff that happens online attracts a lot of bad publicity to the game. I got into Forza last year and I’m already devoted to the series, but I want to see it improve beyond the addition of content. :frowning: Stricter track limits and time penalties for those who corner-cut would be a start. I don’t think they’re rocket science, so it puzzles me why they don’t implement these measures. Collisions and ramming must be dealt with by the human element, though.

It didn’t help that Gran Turismo Sport basically threw everything that used to be good about Gran Turismo down the trash and became yet another generic simulator. PD, like Turn 10, has many “style over substance” issues of theirs, though they’re of a distinct nature. Even though the new Gran Turismo sells itself on the idea of “professionalism”, there are a lot of bad racers there, too. But in Forza 7 it’s far easier to cause mayhem.

I am usually racing on Unbeatable, all assists off apart from clutch and normal steering on controller (Dan’s rival event was the last time I ran with ABS, the last assist I turned off). Will drop down to Expert or Pro on occasion if there’s a track/race where the AI gets a super-boost like Sebring or Daytona. Dashboard cam as I feel it gives a better FOV/perspective than cockpit cam whilst still giving that “inside the car” feel, cockpit cam I just feel too far away from the action and there is a lot of wasted screen space doing nothing. I occasionally use bonnet/bumper cam on some cars like LMP prototypes as there just isn’t a big enough windscreen to see clearly out of, and I’m only using a 37" TV.

for me its simple: if its racing simulator or simcade, then i drive cockpit view (AC, FM7, PCars2)
if its arcade then its chase cam (Driveclub, Forza Horizon 3)
