Different tachometer?

Why is the tachometer so poorly done? Is there something I’m missing? I switched from Gran Turismo to forza and that is the thing I miss most.

Could you be more specific as far as what is wrong?

I don’t know about OP but the problem I have with it is that there is no needle on the analog tachometer. This is fine on most vehicles but the ones that you can run deep into the red with before shifting I lose where my RPM’s are in the tachometer. The vehicle I have the biggest problem with is the new Mercedes truck, where you can shift out of one gear and still be in the red on the next gear. It also does not help that it is a diesel and I have a hard time trying to shift by sound. The tachometer would be greatly improved with the addition of a small needle to indicate RMP, Horizon 2 has a much better tachometer than FM6, but the FM2 is my favorite tachometer (full needle), followed by the FM4 tachometer (short red floating needle)

I do not like the digital tachometer either.

FM6 tachometer (FM5 is very similar), lack of needle makes it hard to read.

FM4 tachometer (small red floating needle makes it much easier to read) FM3, Horizon and Horizon 2 use similar tachometers but have a thicker floating needle.

FM2 tachometer, easiest to read.

Use the one in the car? Unless it’s the ford gtlm which apparently doesn’t have one

Well said Mike. I’d love to use in-car view katowerks, however I find the drivers hands horribly distracting. Guess I’m just used to learning each car with this tachometer.

gt6 tachometer

The new one from FH3 looks nice and has a needle. You can see it here : Forza Horizon 3 Gameplay in 4K - YouTube

That looks great. I hadn’t noticed that yet.

YEs, I agree, the in game, HUD tacho stinks in FM6. I much prefer the one from FM2. I use hood view because, like others, I find the drivers hands too distracting. I wish there was a “dash view” like in Dirt:Rally. They have a cockpit view, Dash View, hood view, worm/bumper view, and a follow view or two. I run Dash view, until I inevitably break the windshield, then hoodview. In otherwords, I run dash view until right after the first corner.

And don’t use hood view with a white car or the tachometer will disappear in to it.
