Delayed reaction to steering wheel movements

Our son got FH5 (running on an Xbox Series S) and a Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider racing wheel (https://www.thrustmaster.com/en-us/products/ferrari-458-spider-racing-wheel/) for X-mas. It‘s quite difficult to steer the cars, because they react only after a noticeable delay to movements of the steering wheel resulting in „snaky“ lines (even for experienced drivers, at least in the real world, like myself). I‘ve experimented with different settings (for example deadzone and linearity) but without success. Any ideas or recommendations? How does FH know which wheel is connected? I couldn‘t find the wheel type in the settings. Many thanks and apologies if this is a newbie question!

Have you tried changing the wheel sensitivity? This video shows how to change that setting between the 4 options.

If that doesn’t help, there should be plenty of Youtube videos that go more in depth with the various settings.

as much as I hate to say it, controller is the best option for this game

I don’t understand it myself because Forza MOTORSPORT doesn’t have that delay. Like at all. Or if it is there it’s soooooo much less noticable. They need to do an update on steering wheel functionality to make it respond like Motorsport. Period. It’s obviously the superior mechanic so why not use it across all games and platforms?

I use a logitech g923 and have no problems at all. So i its not a game problem.
