CTD on PC ... here is the ultimate fix!

Next time your game CTDs, just do this:

  1. recite Mary Had a Little Lamb
  2. clap your hands and stomp your feet
  3. restart the game

I did this an now the game runs perfectly!

… ok but seriously, I think we’re all wasting our time with these suggestions for fixes. We must admit it, the game is a bug-infested nightmare. It is completely unstable and its behavior is random. Some days it can’t run more than 5 minutes without CTD. Very rarely I get a whole hour of blissful silky smooth racing in, but then I still need to deal with the audio/visual glitches in the menus, and long stretches of time between menus where the screen is just inexplicably black. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get lucky and be able to play for a whole hour again? Or maybe I’ll just get the normal CTDs or single-digit frame rates again.

There is an “ultimate fix” (as I promised in the subject) but it’s this:

  1. wait for T10 to release the next major patch
  2. wait for T10 to release the next few major patches after that

Really that’s it.

EDIT: Also, if you want to help T10 find & fix bugs faster, please read Nitro Glitter’s post here: https://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst110122_My-game-crashed--How-to-report.aspx
I have nothing to do with T10, but as a professional developer, I can say with confidence that those crash reports are invaluable in root-causing the issues.

I fail to see how keep reporting the same bugs to Turn 10 helps, these issues have existed since ‘beta’ release and never fixed.

My suggestion to fix this game is;
Forget FH7, uninstall from PC and go play something else.

One symptom can have several root causes. Given how frequent and widespread the crashes are, and how generally unstable the product is, I highly down it all boils down to one bad line of code, or one faulty method. Likely several issues at hand, or maybe one particularly bad idiom that was used throughout the code base. More crash reports means more stacktraces means more evidence to help them find the root causes.

When they find no more use in getting crash reports, I’m sure they’ll tell us. For now, they are asking for each person experiencing crashes to send one crash report.

I totally agree , stop serching for fixes , play something else until T10 fix the game …Its obvious that the game is full of bugs …
I get bad stuttering and off course CTD so i am one of you!

I don’t want to get too excited … but I just fired up the game after the November 3 patch, and what a difference. No more stuttering during the actual races, no more scenery popping in last-moment. Still stuttering & glitches in the credit rewards menu between races. And I got that “infinite credit sound loop” that others have reported. Had to listen to that “tick-a-tick-a-tick-a-tick” noise nonstop until the next rewards screen cycle. Super-annoying.

So, we’re not out of the woods yet. Still might need to wait for another major patch or two. But this looks like we’ve finally got a playable game desperately in need of polish. Really I would have rather waited another month or two and had it released with proper quality.

Well, that’s the first major patch applied. Now for the next one!
