Cry for help - Calling all Thrustmaster TX users

Good day fellow Forza fans.

Before i air my cry for help i would like to give you a little background.

I am a hardened car nut and a Forza fanatic.
I have bought all Forza’s, most limited collector editions (yep i am 30ish!)

From Forza 2 i had the Microsoft force feedback wheel and loved every minute of it.
This wheel was used in every forza up until Horizon and i had zero complaints about it.
It was a sad day when i sold it for a small figure of £45!

Ok, i have now fell OUT of love with Forza; please bare with me on this on.

Forza 5 is stunning inside and out, Horizon 2 is my dream game!. I love every bit of it.

The problem i am having is with my Thrustmaster TX!
Since owning it over the past 9 months i can honestly say i have used it no more than 8 times (20 minuets per time).

I bought the most expensive Horizon 2 digital package, day one, pre download, Storm island, all DLC, VIP and car pass.
I have not completed one storm island event, nor up until yesterday did not download the past 2 months car packs!

The reason for this is the shocking amount of spin-outs it causes!
I call myself a patient person but my frustration over boils with this wheel, it has ruined my relationship with what i can call “the greatest console racing experience there is!”

So please, fellow Forza fans; i ask for help and advice to re-ignite my long term love for the series.

Well, where to start?

Do you have the latest firmware on your wheel? Hint: If you can do the cheaty trick of running Manual+Clutch without a clutch pedal you do. If not, update the wheel.

What are your controller settings in game? Go to the Pause menu then Options and Controller, and press X for Advanced. Set the Steering, Accelerator, and Braking dead zones to 0-100. Personally I have the Vibration and Force Feedback both set to 50, and the rotation is 900 degrees. I do okay.

Lastly, Horizon needs a different driving style than Motorsport - be prepared to use more opposite lock cornering, and don’t assume you can just mash the gas pedal all the time.

Hope this helps,
Toni

P.S. Make sure you don’t have any active controllers when using the wheel - they can cause unpredictable results.

Turn of simulation steering > problem solved.

Axis’ checked. Originally 5 - 95, now set to 0-100

Thanks teamradicus

Sim sterling turned off, already feels better just using my controller

Thanks reinart 86

Wheel will be setup later for a test

Wish me luck!…

Yeah sim-steering feels really awfull in forza 5, ther’s just no way you can catch a slide with it turned on. I’ve just got my wheel today, still playing around with the settings. What works for me at the moment is:

All deadzones 0-100
Vibration 85
Ffb 100
Dor 330 or 540 (330 for R class and up and most of the fast rwd cars) just make sure you change this in the advanced controller page not using the mode button on your wheel.

You can also lower the sensitivity of your wheel but i have found that the standard setting works best for me. You can change this by simultaneously pressing shift up or down and mode button.

What is considered standard? 1 flash?

Yes. It will always be at 1 when you start up the game.
