i was wondering how cross play works? if i am playing forza horizon 4 on PC can my friend on xbox join my online sessions and play with me?

As long as you have cross play enabled, it should work.

I know it’s a bit late, but maybe you’re still waiting. It is enabled by default. You can turn cross play off in the settings of the game I think.

I’m thinking about to buy a Xbox One X bündle with the forza games, but on console I don’t like to play against the pc gamers with their high end machines, where you only can go for 30 fps in 4k and 60 in fps FullHD on xbox one x, the pc gamers with the right setup can go for 60+ fps on FullHD and 4k.
For me this is an advantage and bad for fair competition.
So my question is can I disable crossplay?
I don’t know, but I do know that PC players have no advantage over console players. It’s not like a first person shooter game where mouse users are pitted against gamepad users.

I dont think there should be cross play between console and PC. PC has the “advantage” of modding, which is bull if you ask me. It affects the leaderboards on console and makes it impossible for console players to try and reach high worldwide rankings. I see PR stunt leaderboards with cars achieving over 350mph, which normally isnt possible on console after train patch (which the train glitch should have been impossible from day 1).

If they have the “advantage” of modding they also get that “extra bonus” of being permanently banned as well
You probably find those really high “worldwide” rankings (that mean nothing) are results of glitches not modding
YOU also can choose not to see the PC rankings and disable crossplay

Forza games run inside the UWP (Universal Windows Platform) on PC, even the game files are encrypted and the users cannot access them at all (unless they’re running a hacked version of the game entirely). But it would be very risky and I doubt it would work online. I’ve never seen a cheater in any Forza game on PC.

It just works. There is nothing you need to do to make it work as Cross-play is enabled by Default.
Yup. Console peeps dont need to worry. Cheats are caught and banned. Control options are same. Only place of potential advantage is hardware in terms of performance in high load situations

Anyone know how to disable cross play?
Everyone saying it’s possible, but I haveyet to see that option in FH4 and I’m pretty sure they said it could not be disabled?
I know how to block 3rd party sites like Steam, which does block a large number of comp players, but I still get the teleporters, the advanced cloaking drivers and all manner of ping attacks.
