Crash after Win 10 Anniversary update

Hi guys,

I was running F6 Apex without any problems/crashes.
Now, after the new update, Forza is crashing right after the intro’s when it’s just starting to load the game.
No errors shown, it just crashes to desktop.

I searched several forums/sites but couldn’t see anyone else with the same problem.

I removed and installed Forza again, no luck.
I even downgraded 3 nvidia card drivers (1 by 1).
Nothing else has changed on my pc.

Any suggestions?

I noticed the Anniversary update caused some of the Nvidia Control Panel settings to change. I would check and make sure those settings are correct. I haven’t checked to see if F6:A still runs though. In my past experience, I had the game not pass the initial white screen if my setting for monitor refresh was not set to “application controlled.”

Thanks!

The settings were indeed reset to default.
I turned DSR back on and switched to single display performance mode.

Issue solved

Yep. Same here. After the anniversary update Apex would just open and crash. Turns out all NVCP settings had been set to default, so the game was looking for 3840x2160 but it didn’t exist. Turned DSR back on and game works fine, except that the Xbox app no longer tracks my stats so I will never be able to finish the game…

Forza 6 is keeps crashing to desktop after installing the anniversary update as well.
I don’t think it is a driver problem because you don’t get the usual “nvidia driver has crash but recovered” error message.
The game just quits to desktop.

I was having crash after the anniversary update. But I have found a fix on reddit (for the not working extensions for edge). Fortunately, it fixes forza as well. You have to reset windows store. To do so, open a powershell window and run wsreset.exe and wait until the store opens. Game should work now.

I’m having the exact same issue as OP. Installed the anniversary update for the wheel support and it crashes to desktop during the load screen of the Ford GT. Ive updated drivers and reset the windows store, cleared cache, nothing works. Then I rolled back to the older version of Windows and apex loads up fine. But I can’t get wheel support without the anniversary update.
