Cinematic tools in the game

Throughout FH5’s livecycle we have seen some trailes for the new cars being added from the festival playlists, these trailers are good, specially with the cinematic tools, it would be great if this feature will come to the public, for the community to enjoy and make some awesome clips (in comparison to what we have now, we can only use the photomode and the drone mode).
The method could be quite simple:
-you record an in-game clip (maybe with the rewind option)

  • when the clip is saved, it will be stored on your gallery (just like with the photos you take)
  • on your personal gallery (or editor) you can have the ability to edit the clip, add more clips, maybe add the in-game songs and upload it (to the in-game gallery Youtube or the forza website if the accounts are linked)
  • within the clip editing section, you could change the camera position and move it just like you want it, tweak the camera shake, blend the camera movement aswell as blendind different clips, and the normal options from the photomode (contrast, brightness, saturation, aperture, shutter speed)
  • there would be a turorial for people to undestand how to use it properly

For exposition, GTA V and its Rockstar Editor feature is a great example, I hope FH5 (or the next FH) has something like this. Would like to know what do you all think about this

A replay editor where you can record gameplay and set keyframes from camera movements. Like seen in GTA or Assetto Corsa for example. So people can make Cinematic Car videos more easily. This would also bring more exposure for the game.

Hi,
I think this would be a great idea!!
I’m sure the community would create crazy cool videos!

Best regards

I don’t think a single in game feature has been as blatantly copy-pasted as Forza’s in-house replay editor. It has sat entirely unchanged since Forza Horizon 2 and is extremely limiting.

Frustration is compounded by the promotional videos PGG regularly puts out, which showcase cars with replay edits and features that clearly aren’t available from the in-game one.

Skate 3, a game that predates Horizon 1 by two years had an amazing replay editor. One that I would love to see basically carbon-copied and put into Horizon 5. You could place keyframes, use filters like in the photo mode, go in and out of slow motion, and the best feature was that you could place custom camera keyframes and have the camera smoothly transition to multiple locations and angles. Skate 3 is also “always recording” and the player can at any moment enter the replay editor and have the last 30 seconds of gameplay played back as a replay they can freely edit.

Considering the only way to make cinematics remotely similar to what I’m describing is with a very inconvenient glitch that has miraculously remained unpatched for multiple titles is disheartening. You literally need to move the camera yourself as the replay plays back, which is super complicated and requires tons of patience and precision.

Please, create a proper updated replay system. It’s vastly overdue at this point.

In a way, Horizon is also always recording since you can enter into a replay through a rewind. But it’s inconsistent how far you can rewind.

Make it happen

If horizon is a game that puts emphasis on its community this is a needed feature.

Horizon has photography mode and everyone loves taking pics in these games. So its not a feature just for the content creators but for the whole community.
The same way cinematic tools would be an amazing addition. The devs got lots of tools in their disposal id love to see some them being implemented in the game.

Sup Forza,
We want more replay features, like a ‘advanced replay’. Something, if I may, like Driver San Fran.

Interesting suggestion but… could you elaborate?

Yes sorry,
To be able to freely change camera angles, cinematic type, the best examples I have given are Driver San Fan and Car x drift mobile. Even a controllable drone will be really appreciated.

I woud love to have a Dron and a camera car in the replay, bouth whif no kolision, but full camera controll, so, you can get nice shots vorm a controlled point. It maby also very easely to implement in.
the drone is so grade, to get realistik shoots, i do it in horizon 4 vor a very long cinematik of an Frord Transit, and it work wery well, and tacke not mutsch time to mack, also in the edit it was so usefool. Forza must simply put that drone in the repays as an option.
and a Car, that drive a Camera: maby it copyed simply the car of intrest, and drive a half sekond behind that one, to get that arwsome backspoler perspecktive, or, better, the replay whatcher have controll oubout simply comandy, like, overtack and stay in front of the car, so the drivatar of the camera car get a magig aceleration boost, to can overtacke the car of intrest, also the dravatar try to not colide whif other cars, if possible, and synkronyse the speed back to car of intrest when it have end the overtacke. Vor the developer its a little fiddling whif the dravartars, but i thik, its doable. more comlicade will be the camera. first, you need a 360° turnable camera on the car, the car itselve shod be invisible vor the camera. but all the shacking and rumbeling of a car must be simulate and reackt vor the camera. that is a kompletly new system what they must bild, and that is what i think that dount come tru.
but if that isn’t possible, we need full camera controll in replays of “playercameras” example: you chooce the standart 3. person camera in a replay. you cant turn the camera, also not the cockpit camera. Why? also in the cockpit, it must be possible to see thro left and rigt over 45° maby 330° is ok. i un derstand, that dount render the car, by looking backwarts, in a race is good, bekaus better racingoveriu, but in a replay that immersion and creativ posibilletys are mutch more intresting.

Replays need to be updated. Ive owned literally every single Forza game, motorsport and Horizon and have asked feom the beginning for better replay camera angles at a minimum, tv style you know stationary realistic camera views for example. I finally was so frustrated I sat out the launch of Horizon 5 and didnt buy it til months later. I mean every other game out there seems to be able to do this with such a small budget and team and Forza T10 and Playground games cannot. Its just bewildering to me at this point. But figured Id come back and ask once more, once again for an updated replay system, for future titles going forward, and just wait and see if we get it bwfore I purchase future titles from here on out.

Omg I thought I was the only one who wants to make videos in FH5 cause I’ve been wanting to make my own FH5 music videos and we should have a feature for us to share our videos publicly in game

Overall, replays are a letdown in Horizon. Users should be able to see a replay complete with cool camera angles whenever they’ve completed a race.

cinematic tool in horizon5 is just so limited, I have no idea why they cant just make a new one which I think it wouldn’t be difficult. I believe new cinematic tool could bring us more creative video by players.

YES, YES, YES… 10000% YES!!!

Yes!

Hi Playground Games,
If you could add a fly/free camera mode replay editing feature to Forza Horizon 6, it would be greatly appreciated by your community :star_struck:
The ability to record and edit clips for our YouTube channels would be greatly facilitated.
(A bit like director mode in GTA for example)
Cheers!

Some sort of video editing within replays or save replays to access a Video editor mode with freecam and other cool options, would be really fun.
