Change or deactivate the audio penalty announcements

Currently, when one does get a penalty there is a small visual indicator, short, precise and non-intrusive.

However there is also a narrator announcing the received penalty and a separate announcement for the total amount of time penalty. The times are also rounded up (with a 0.5 sec precision). I find that rather annoying and frankly unhelpful:

  • Redundant information is given
  • The announcement is given regardless where you are, could be distracting in corners when someone talks unexpectedly (See the many IRL complaints of F1 etc drivers when the mechanics bother them during braking).
  • The information given is false/inaccurate

I suggest that this feature be off by default or be removed entirely.

There’s one all-or-nothing audio setting for voice-overs that silences penalty announcements along with everything else like narration during career event intro cinematics.

This is a valid workaround. But I actually do like the random facts about the tracks I get when joining a race and overall the narration is a nice to have feature-It just suffers from how the penalty announcement is being implemented.
Thats why I would like that specific part to be gone, deactivatable or improved as follows:

  • Saying the exact amount of time added to the penalty
  • Not announcing the total penalty
  • Only announcing penalties when the player is not braking or turning (with a bit of a countdown from such player actions)

While at it one could at some features to it:

  • Telling on start of the last lap if the gap to the next car is so close as to lose postions.
  • Using “We” instead of “You” (as race engineers usally do)
  • Warning about DQs? (Though I doubt such players would care for a warning)
