What was the idea behind the points?
appear at the front, back and always somewhere on some cars, sometimes even only on one light, what’s that supposed to mean??
Engine limiations, I suppose.
That doesn’t explain that the points are placed somewhere and outside of the actual lights
It very much does. Because they couldn’t work on the models for some reason, the only way to make the lights light up outside of the model was to place the actual lighting spots somewhere. But instead of placing them at least close enough to what should be the actual source, most light sources appear way outside of the models, because… because they do.
I don’t believe it’s laziness, but rather place where Microsoft’s glorious “you work for 18 months and then leave because we’ll get more profits this way” is visible, or even more.
Maybe they did get more money this way…
Obviously not fixed after update 9
Not fixed in Update 10
I dont’ know why this is being reported as an issue. It looks more like an intended feature. You will see this in TV races on distant cars with the camera zoomed or even on the road on freeways and highways with cars that have bright LED brake light bulbs.
It looks rather good and I don’t think it is a bug. Let’s discuss!
The problem actually occurs when people pause the game and zoom in on this effect in Photo mode. It’s supposed to be visible only on distant cars - maybe they forgot to remove it as the player zooms in on cars in non-gameplay modes.
I’ve honestly never encountered this during gameplay except for some cars which have only the right tail light glowing upon braking for some reason.
Maybe this is a photo mode only issue. Can you post some more shots? In the meantime, I might do some testing too once I get around to it
If you honestly think that this is how it should look then there is no rational discussion to be had.
It has absolutely nothing to do with photo mode and no I’m not going to post anymore pictures… There’s enough in here to make the case.
I’ve re-examined the photos you posted - that looks like a reflection of the LED light bulb on the inside of the brake light housing/enclosed casing, if that makes sense?
I’ll tell you though, there are many car modeling bugs in the game and seems like they’ve literally been lifting and pasting car models from previous games, some of them dating even two generations back.
You know, one of the most common complaints in FM7 was that there wasn’t enough glow or bright enough halos around the headlights and brake lights. Perhaps they have tried to address that as brake lights and headlights definitely pop realistically and have a glow around them.
Nothing rivals GT7 though in terms of lighting and overall graphical polish.
The issue is that the fake glow (instead of making the actual texture glow as done in every other game on earth!! ) is randomly placed on 90% of the cars in the game! Floating mid air outside the cars…in the reverse lights… On the bumpers… It’s absolute nonsense and Turn10 won’t ever fix it.
Hmm, I see what you mean. Do you notice it a lot during actual gameplay?
Absolutely. Dépends on the cars as you can see in all the screenshots here. All modern cars with LED strips look ridiculous.
As mentioned several times in this thread: a quick and easy solution would be to make the glow fade further away from the player instead of 2 meters as it is right now. But Turn10 is useless as usual.
I mean they literally decided not to fix the tracks seams issue that plagues every single track in the game and was one of the most voted issue here.
Have you looked at all the pictures before your post?
Number 1 the McLarren P1 with the dots in the back where no led or light is on post number 10 the same car on a pic from T10 with normal led cause not taken from the game
the pics are taken in photo mode with zoom yes to clearly make them visible to the devs cause the must be blind to not know that there are these dots before release… But when you actually play that game i wonder who cant see them?
On post 14 the TVR has a white dot on the left like the Ferrari on post 21 when driving at night at a distance to that car it looks like the left light not working till you are close and see that white point.
On post 17 you see the red dots are there even in day races put in nowhere thats no extra glow halo or what you call it, where the lights should be off anyway anothere mistke postet since FM6 but the devs dont care… like most of the players how it seems.
On post 34 you see that the front lights are also affectet by this mistake
Post 35 with the Focus and its red dots shining throu the car no mistake? You are kidding
post 36 you first reply you seen the TVR too so how can you say now that this is no big deal and not visible in race?
Post 41 also on the front with dots over the light itself other cars with one visible dot the other looks ok?
These dots are misplaced and visible on the wrong distance
Thanks, yea. It can be annoying for those who tend to notice it too much while driving.
I’ve definitely noticed some of the AI cars having only one brake light or headlight illuminated.
Bets on what’s happening first: This being fixed or Turn10 being shut down ?
Take guess…
Not fixed in Update 11
The developers have investigated this and determined this is by design. The glows are blooms used for making brake lights visible at distance and therefore, positioned roughly around center mass of the brakes geometry. The intent is to strike the balance between gameplay and render budgets.
