Cars - Ferrari 458 Italia 2009 - cockpit audio volume too low (1938597)

The cockpit audio for this car either hasn’t been recorded at all or the mixing is so off that it sounds like I’m hearing my car from far away radio speakers.

(EDIT - bodykit issue answered)

Seriously the cockpit audio sounds like it was recorded in a hall or bathtub.

It was the Liberty Walk widebody kit that was also featured in FH3/FM7, but the kit was removed back in February / Update 5, they tweeted about it, too (except that they typoed the name, 488 GTB never had a widebody kit).

Thank you. Why though? And why is the option for a wide BK still there you think?

Why though?

Maybe Ferrari threw a fit and didn’t want it to be included. Maybe licensing deal ran out and was included by mistake. Maybe it was bugged in some way. Who knows?

And why is the option for a wide BK still there you think?

Not a (game) dev by any margin, I’m only an certified armchair “”“expert”“”, but if I were to guess, the option to apply it is still there, because if the upgrade option was removed completely and people had the 458 Italia with WBK in their garage, following things could happen, from (sorta) good to bad:

-your tune could get reset but you can still use the car and redo the tune (if you spend a ton of time doing tunes, this would suck though)
-your game could lock up when trying to use/view the 458 Italia due to WBK option no longer existing,
-your whole save could get corrupted, forcing you to start from beginning (unlikely, but you never know).

So yeah, I’d say removing the model but leaving the upgrade option in was/is the safest way. Who knows, maybe it’ll come back in a future update. /shrug

It was, the standard spoiler (or the exterior part between the taillights above the grills) of the 458 turned invisible, but the 3rd brake light stayed. Appearantly the couldn’t fix this so they removed the bodykit.

What a weird fix.

It feels incomplete without the WBK, hoping to see it return. Got really used to it in Fm7!

Applies to most cars in the game but ironically the cars that don’t sound like they’re revving out of a bathtub in cockpit actually sound good - the Evos and the NSX’s for example.

I think it’s a matter of time before they start applying the proper mixing and dynamic range to the cockpit sounds so that all road cars at least sound like road cars from cockpit - and not striped down racecar interiors.

Yet dozens upon dozens of car models are still deformed and so far only one has been fixed. This isn’t a reason to just get rid of the kit.

We could really use a sound update for this car. It sounds so dreadful in cockpit. Weak sound as if it’s revving in a really faraway tunnel.

Just bumping this up for the issue to be logged. I’m concerned about the sound mostly, it sounds quiet and faraway. Make it louder please and from cockpit especially, give the sound a good dose of dynamic range so we can feel the rumble, bass, and vibration from the engine/exhaust.

How many votes are needed for a car audio bug to be logged? @JetPartySalad

The cockpit audio is really lacking. Hopefully this will get added too.

I think the title of the post needs to be edited to reflect just the “tiny cockpit sound” issue as the wide bodykit related query has been answered. @JetPartySalad

Is this being looked at? Is the wide bodykit supposed to show?

It is not supposed to show.
It was the Liberty Walk kit, but since Ferrari is Ferrari, one day they decided that they don’t want that kit on the 458 Italia anymore, so Turn10 listened. Truth be told, since there is already a Widebody for the 488 Pista, they could just model another one for the 458.

What FM7 were you playing? Does it have accurate car models and good sounds too? I know FH3 was the only game to ever feature this Widebody kit for the 458 Italia

FM7 has a widebody kit for the 458 and it sounds great too. 458 in Forza 8 sounds dreadful.

Can you please update this thread to an audio only issue?

The sound from cockpit is really weak and lacks punch, character, dynamic range, etc.

I would like to apologize for what I said. After I sent my last reply I went to check on FM7 and it turns out that you were right, the 458 Italia did feature this LBWK kit.
