Car-specific colors and default set-up tuning for rental cars in Free Play

Back in Forza Motorsport 2, 3 and 4, in their respective Free Play modes, you could choose a rental car’s default set of car-specific colors just as you select them, and even perform set-up tuning just within the car’s default settings, which meant that even if the car itself was stock, you can still make some fine adjustments to them based on whatever parameters were available.

Motorsport 5, 6 and 7 took these features away, where if you’re going to use a rental car in Free Play, you could no longer choose the color for it, nor could you do set-up tuning based on its default setup. I want that for the next Forza Motorsport, these features would be brought back for rental cars in Free Play. While yes, you can still rent these cars, there should be a bit of some flexibility, but this doesn’t mean you could go as far as upgrading and customizing them.

Restrictions:

  • Manufacturer colors only. Custom colors from the color palette and special colors/finishes will not be available on rental cars.
  • Parameters for setup tuning on rental cars will vary on what can and cannot be tuned, based on their stock, unmodified versions.
  • Upgrades and custom liveries still cannot be used on rental cars.

Agree with this. Personally, I could do without the ability to tune the default setup, but I definitely want to be able to choose manufacturer colors in the rental cars, like in Project CARS.

UPDATE: Forza Motorsport (2023) still doesn’t have this feature. Hopefully this sheds more light into this topic so the developers can take notice of it.

When the full game releases could let us change colors of all the normal cars on free play

Please at least allow us to choose the manufacturer colors for our rental car. When we choose a rental car in Free Play and online, the game doesn’t allow us to select any color for the car but only the default.

The way this should work is like this:

  1. Go into the “Buy or Rent” menu and choose a car.
  2. Pick a manufacturer color.
  3. And then the game should bring up the purchase/rent menu.

Does anyone know why in free play when using the 2018 ZL1 1LE the avitars show up with aftermarket wheels, spoiler and body kits? Even when the feature is disabled? It also happened with choosing a Group C race. Many of the cars (Sauber c9, AMR-1) showed with aftermarket wheels. And the Viper ACR GTS shows up without body work. Just the driver, steering wheel, and the four wheels?

This is because Drivatars are assumed to use cars from their respective player garages. This thread is for people who wish for manufacturer colors and default set-up tuning to return for rental cars in Free Play.

The first four Motorsports had this, but not in the Xbox One-era games, and currently, the latest Motorsport.

This, along with the ability to tune rental cars based on their default setup, with whatever parameters are available.

Also the ability to select tire compounds on rental cars.
