is homologation the new " trend " from turn10 ? ok … fine … but at least make it good : let me homologate the car to the category i want!! if i want to upgrade a Cclass to a Bclass i want to be able to homologate in that B class … not that if i want that homologated i have to bring it back to his class origin…
thats how it homologation worked before forza started calling it homologation… homologation is forza’s fancy word for “drive what we tell you to drive” … it a a loose homologation based on basic classes or body types or horse power or by spec race… that homolgation system worked… and worked well… the currently system works so poorly that i’ve spent more time complaining about it than actually playing through the pain (in the ass) of being forced to play how they want me to play… rather than how i’ve always played (which i why i choose to play forza all these years in the first place and spent at least $1500 in total to play them, and their DLC since 2005).
the currently homologation system is only good if your a newbie to tuning, and have no intrest in learning… in which case they should’ve been playing need for speed or mario kart not complaining to turn 10 that forza isn’t enough like need for speed and mario kart, and trying to turn forza into the game should have been playing all along; IE, not a tuning racing sim, which is what forza always has been; until now it seems… why they ultimately choose to shoot themselves in the foot and spit in the eyes of their most loyal fanbase we may never know
I feel like the idea for the Homologation system is a good one, but the execution lackluster, to say the least.
As it is, it is much too restrictive, especially with cars that have a base PI very close to the PI cap. I wish we could be given more options for homologation, for example ‘Historic Road Racing - C475’ ‘Historic Road Racing - B550’, ‘Historic Road Racing - A600’ or something like that, such that there is more leeway with the upgrading and tuning, and we can still take a C class car all the way up to A class if we wanted to, while keeping the playing field relatively level.
Another issue is the inconsistency of how some cars are classified. For example, the '71 Ford Falcon is in the Historic Road Racing division but somehow the '67 Ford Falcon is in the Drag Legends division? I feel like rather than restrict the cars to one single division they should be able to be raced in multiple divisions where it makes sense (as above, the '67 and '71 Ford Falcons could be in both Historic Road Racing and Drag Legends divisions).
I was a big forzamotorsport.net regular back in the FM1-4 days(though I think my username was slightly different since I had a new login process here). Now that FM has come to PC, I was super excited.
Homologation is a complete and utter dealbreaker. It so utterly ruins the game that I want to cry. It’s so bad I felt the need to revisit this forum after many years away just to express how grievously upset about this I am.
I want to customize my cars the way I want to and then take them out to race. This has always been like THE great thing about Forza Motorsport. And it’s gone. All these customization options there that really dont do anything except tease you because if you apply them, you cant actually use your car anymore.
I pre-ordered this game because I honestly didn’t think there was anyway this game wouldn’t be a load of fun. Turn 10 at least delivers on the fun Forza Motorsport formula entry after entry, even if many of the details change for better or worse. Well not anymore. Turn 10 - you’ve properly burned me. You’ve stripped the soul from the game and left me gutted. So much else of the game is brilliant, too. Which honestly makes it worse cuz it doesn’t really matter when the core formula of the game isn’t enjoyable anymore.
I’m gunna be a bit controversial here and say class hoppers can stay dead and have no place on fm. Class lb should be there along with every division lb resulting in a plethora of lb to try and compete at. Hoppers need to be expanded on but stay division based. If t10 had done this from release the complaints around this feature wudnt of been half as bad. Ur always gunna get that 1 person that wants to race a bmw issetta against 23 gt cars but u can’t please everyone and honestly just ask ur self why on earth??? I can understand why there trickle feeding us features the problem here as always is lack of communication. All t10 had to do was tell us what’s coming and what’s happening instead they leave criptic tweets and outrageous claims in the week in review that just confuse ppl.
But as always it’s unfair to focus on the negatives, so in contrast id like to point out that this game feels absolutely amazing and looks superb.
As long as they hurry up about it. Currently, you can only use 83 cars online which is a bit silly given there are over 700 cars.
The truth is, if the class hoppers were to return alongside the homologation ones, the class hoppers would be far more populated. That’s what people know and are familiar with.
T10 need to improve their communication so we know what is coming in the future as currently only being able to use 83 cars and not knowing what is coming isn’t good. Hopefully leagues brings something better and new.
A homologation hopper that allows all upgrades that completely unlock every tuning menu then dictates the same boundaries you might see in a real racing series such as minimum allowable weight, max horsepower, tire compound and width, decoupled from the PI system, could be super fun for those of us who enjoy dabbling in the details. Then if someone at Turn 10 were tracking it and found that one car was completely dominating they can do exactly like they do in real life and either decrease that car’s horsepower or increase minimum weight to make it conpetitive again.
But this can’t be the standard way of doing things because it’ll turn a lot of people off to the game who just want to goof around with cars. It has to be offered as an additional way to enjoy the game for people who want a more true to life competitive experience.
I hear u Steve but let’s put this into perspective. I have driven 28 hours on the game so far I have 150 cars to play with. There isn’t going to be many ppl that have more 150 cars let alone the 81 cars u can use online currently. Renting a car is possible but imo goes against the grinding ethos that T10 have forced upon us and should be removed asap
This rest content and life to multiplayer, makes it a basic short game. It makes the 700 cars a waste…
You can no longer be a spectator inside a lobby, really??
I want to believe that they are things that are missing due to lack of time, and that these days will be added to the game, if not unfortunately i ask to refound…
What people don’t seem to get is that Division based racing makes way more sense than Class based racing. With Class hoppers the cars were all over the place and much more unbalanced. The homologation system while flawed is the first step towards making real racing based competition, not just cars of similar PI just haphazardly thrown together. If Class based hoppers are truly gone, I will not mourn them.
The idea of homologation isn’t necessarily a terrible one. The actual implementation here is just insanely restrictive. A HP cap or something for a certain classification? Sure. I’m all for that. But things like being told exactly what tire you have to use along with the max width of that tire is just ridiculous.
Plus it’s completely ruined the ability to bump up cars to new classes. If I have a car that stock is only 15 points from being at the next class, I can barely do anything with it. In previous Forza’s I could turn it into a car for the next class up and it wouldn’t necessarily be some super unbalanced machine at all. That sort of freedom is gone. Not everybody who wants to upgrade their cars is doing so to make ludicrous 600hp Mini’s or whatever.
You’re also ignoring that this affects everybody who plays single-player, which is probably the majority of Forza Motorsport users.
I think the new homo… mode will be much better. I didn’t race a bunch of cars in FM6 because I didn’t want to wipeout my time from the leaderboard if I posted high with a non leaderboard car (ie Lotus). Also like that the hardcore LB is back - the only leaderboard that matters.
Please point me to the Open-Wheel Classics rivals for the Nurburgring. Or for Spa. I would pretty happily race those. They don’t seem to exist though.
Now, the point is that homologation, as an idea, is a good one, but not at the expense of the class-track rivals (because it’s fun to tune and upgrade), and even division-track rivals don’t exist.
I’m glad that you’re sure. Turn10, however; has said no such thing. The hope that such rivals are coming is the thing preventing me from refunding. I’d sure like to get some official word.
The new homologation system is awful. AWFUL! And the fact it’s forced down on you in the career mode is mind boggling. Why can’t I race my cars stock? Why can’t I race my cars with my own tunes? Instead, homologation blends everything. And no, multi is not more competitive, since you still haven’t fixed the bloody rammers, corner cutting, etc…
All that and the fact turning off driving aids don’t award anything anymore, the economy feels like some sort of F2P pachinko game, most cars are locked away from you and behind some sort of random reward, the awful AI and the game still being a buggy broken mess on PC, I’m so close of asking for a refund.
I don’t care if it puts me off leaderboards, competitve whatever, just let me play my bloody career mode the way I want, let me turn homologationnofunallowed off NOW!
