What is the benefit of getting above tier 5, other than getting more discount when leveling up?
Will there be cars only obtainable with tiers above 5?

No, but basically you spend less on cars in total. Tier 30 gives you every car in the game for free at levelups.
Does anybody know if collection tier points drop if you sell a car. Need to get rid of some of these turds.
Tier doesn’t drop but your next tier requirements will be raised by the amount you sold.
Has anybody seen a complete table for Car Collecting Tiers?
I’m at Tier 13 now. Cash Rewards never have changed from 50,000 CR per driver level. Car Discount seems to have stuck to 400,000 CR from Tier 10 (rare to legendary cars now) on and Driver Gear rewards are rare mostly with the occationally super-rare.
The more I think about the design of this game, I’m convinced that Microsoft have forced Turn 10 to create a Car Collector game.
Make it difficult to achieve and provide options for grinding out the credits and XP and provide shortcuts of Microtransactions for those unwilling to grind.
Grinding used to be fun when rivals mode paid out rewards but driving the same tracks all the time with FE cars is not my idea of fun.
Here’s my road to progress.
General Stuff
There are two progress levels: Driver level and Car Collector Tier. Car Collector Tier decides which cars you can win at driver level up and purchase in the store. The more cars you own, the higher your CC Tier rises. At Tier 5 you have access to all cars you can buy with credits or win by driver level up. The higher your CC Tier, the higher are the possible rewards for cars and driver gear on driver level up, you also will get an increasing driver level up discount of up to 400,000 credits (at CC Tier 10).
The more expensive/rare a car is the more collector points you get for it (that’s the +x number shown in the car icon).
Every cup won gives you a free car, plus every cup has three showcases that give you another car per showcase done. Once you beat the driver cup, you get 3 more showcases per cup. That’s 35 cars, maybe you get another 5 cars for completing all championships in all cups (Elite Achievements).
What’s left hard"locked" after that will be cars you probably only can get by Forzathon, Specialty Vendor and maybe Prize crates (though I wouldn’t bet on the latter).
Progress
I started by playing the first cups, always starting with the showcases as they held great cars of high collector value. Along I bought the cheapeast cars in the game (< 25,000 credits) for a faster CC Tier progress. I only buy 20k or 50k mod crates and use em along my driver cup races.
To speed things up I do 30secs trials on Track Test Airfield with RAM Runner Forza Edition (the best thing that comes along with the VIP pass) for fast level ups here and there. I buy every car I can afford when leveling up, else I pick the 50k credit reward. With a 400k discount most cars you’re offered at driver level up are either free or very cheap and your CC Tier will progress continously. If you have to pass on a car offer at level up since you haven’t the money, don’t worry - they’ll show up again, sometime.
During driver level up you’re offered a big variety of cars and will unlock more and more championships in driver cups.
Once the auction house opens, I will check there for good deals, too - especially for cars I really care about (personal collection).
Can someone make a list of cars that we can get via showcase event?
Does someone know if the Impreza 05 is there anywhere to get?
I have to say I like the idea of earning and unlocking cars and really don’t mind having to work to get a car I want. Having to wait to be allowed to get a car thought just kind of spoils it for me. In the GT games, as long as you have the licence and the correct car you can do any race you want and unlock the cars you want. I would like the Audi S3 and I wouldn’t mind having to move up collector tiers or finish 1st in the championships to get it, but to have to wait until turn 10 make it available means I cant enjoy the career with it. We could see the exclusive we are personally looking forward to in the next rotation but we could easily have to wait 6 months to get them and that’s where this car collecting and locked cars falls apart for me.
I find it slightly annoying that duplicate cars do not increase your collection score. Do you mean to tell me that two 250 GTO’s are not more valuable than one?
I also noticed the other day that your first vehicle has a score of +0. I removed my Lamborghini Diablo because of that.
Don’t mean to highjack a thread but its kind of on topic. I saw a screen of a garage filled with cars, is that a thing? Does your garage fill out with cars you own at some point? Mine is just the car im in at the moment.
No
So I reached tier level 5 last night, which means I can now buy any car that is not locked. And I went through the entire list of hundreds and hundreds of cars and counted a total of 7 that I would definitely want to own and drive that were still locked behind the exclusive content moniker. Which means you can only get them from: a price crate, specialty dealer, Forzathon, driver’s cup completion, or showcase. That’s not too bad, but there are definitely a couple in there I would really like to have.
I know a lot of people are very upset with this lock system. And I’m sure a lot of people want every car so that’s going to be quite the challenge for sure. However I do like that the system makes me want to work a little harder for it. In previous versions of Forza within about 2 weeks I had a ton of money and basically every car I wanted to drive. And granted that was nice to be able to pick and choose, but it took away the desire of working towards a goal. So I’m okay with this system even though I have a feeling most don’t like it.
Wondering what others opinions are on this system and how it’s affecting you. It would be interesting to get a number from everyone of how many cars you REALLY want that still have the lock symbol (once you reach tier 5).
Having a blast with this new game. Minus the occasional crash to desktop on PC (strangely only while in the main menu). Enjoy the races see you at on the podium!
Tier 5 is very easy to reach. I’m almost there. The people that want to 100% the game or own 100% of the cars with the quickness have to come to grips with the fact that they are going to have to earn them in this game. There were many who were banking on the same thing happening as in FM6… Launch the game with 1 or 5 million for each of their old games and then buy a ton of cars on day 1. Credits are not hard to come by especially with mods and Forza Rewards so you can pick up some high priced cars along the way pretty fast, just not all of them.
-k
im fine with that… it give me the impulse to keep play in the carrier … at least…
Currently tier 6 which was quite easy to reach. So I am in the same boat as OP. It would bother me if there was someplace to use all the cars. But since there are basically no rivals and only a few multiplayer lobbies I haven’t even bothered looking at what cars I might want.
I wish the Tiers had a bigger impact. It’s so easy to get to Tier 5 I feel like there’s little reason to even have the Tiers.
Agreed. I understand not wanting to make the final tier such a long and arduous task that most players give up before the half-way point, but you could get Tier 5 in a couple of hours, and then Tiers are borderline pointless afterwards, save for the increased discount amount (until Tier 10). Break the cars up a little more, place more cars in higher tiers.
The lockdown will make-or-break the longevity in this game for me. The reason that, against my previous postings, I decided to go through with this game was because I re-evaluated the game as a continuation of what I did in FM6. That is, take every car on a track and record lap times for each and every one of them. This requires me to have every car though (I’m picky), and locking off hundreds of cars may severely impact my desire to continue this tradition of mine in FM7, which would destroy the game’s longevity to me. While I had no intention to start doing this shortly after launch (at a minimum I wait until the Car Pass runs its course), if the only way to get most of these cars is by loot crate I fear abandoning the game will come to fruition.
I’m currently waiting to see how Forzathon works out in this game and how loot crates, the AH, and the specialty dealer update and develop over this time. If the cars end up not being too unreasonable to get, I will keep playing. If six, eight, ten months, whatever amount of time later and the majority of cars are still locked, I will be playing other games instead.
I was enjoying the mechanic of offering bigger discounts per tier, but sadly that stops at around tier 10. I’m now tier 13, and the reward for going up a tier is now… a bigger number next to your name. That’s a bit disappointing.
Tier 14 here and no idea what they mean with better rewards at higher tiers. No difference and still only 50K credits to choose instead of a car and allways the same racing overalls.
Have 197 cars now and I’m fine with that and have most of the cars I want.
