Forza Horizon series currently offers a few distinct ways of obtaining cars: the Autoshow, the Auction House, and various other free reward methods. One thing I have been wondering about in the past few years is a way of interacting with Non-Playable Characters that wander around the map - buying cars directly from them.
For example, sometimes cars sitting on driveways would have “For Sale” cards/stickers on them, and they are interactable. Driving up to them would show a prompt “Press [button] to ask”. It could then play a cutscene or some other in-game visual where we talk with the current owner. A menu pops up, with the car’s technical details and three options - “Buy”, “Negotiate” and “Decline”.
These listed cars would be randomly scattered around the map, perhaps only appearing a few minutes into beginning a Free Roam session. They would be different each time, but efforts should be put in place to limit the amount of cars appearing under individual locations in a set period of time, basically so that some NPCs don’t sell 5 cars in 8 minutes. This could also be the method to obtain some rare and maybe exclusive vehicles, especially kinds of models that are considered “undesirable” by many (base models, other lower trims). Maybe finally we could have more than 15 unique cars appearing as NPC vehicles - I myself would love to see a 1995 Skyline saloon for sale at a random location.
Going even further, maybe those traffic cars for sale could replace barn finds and gift cars? Every time I start driving around in Horizon 5 I’m greeted with yet another gifted car, and 99% of the time it’s something I already own. I’d rather spend my time working towards buying a car than be constantly flooded with gifts.
