This car was added with the December 5th content update and can be seen in Free Play filters but is not available to rent. (The Leagues season reward car is a different Exclusive model, the 2000 BMW Z8).
The 2008 Z4 M Coupe was previously in FM4 and FM3, but if my spreadsheet is correct, that had a 343 hp engine vs. the 330 hp for this FM7 version (which wouldn’t be surprising - a number of cars have had slight changes to power or weight from previous games)
“The Z4 M Coupe/Roadster was introduced in 2006 and is powered by the S54 straight-six engine from the E46 M3. The S54 was also on the Ward’s 10 Best Engines list for 2001 through 2004.[32] North American Z4 M models produce 330 bhp (246 kW), 3 hp less than the North American M3.[33] In other markets, the power output is the same 252 kW (338 bhp) as the M3.”
Hopefully that link works, its a photo I took in game.
Anyways, anybody know why this car doesn’t show up anywhere besides that filter above? You can’t rent it in Free Play and it doesn’t show up on the Collector Screen unlike all of the other cars you can unlock via Forzathons, crates etc.
Yeah no kidding. One of the best cars in the game, is in the game, but we can’t access it. Just swear at the AI every now and then when it zooms by you driving the car you want lol. I figured they would have released it by the time the next content update came out…
For some reason, Turn 10 picks the inferior American versions of certain cars. This is one such example. BMW diehards all crave for European models since those are usually less restricted in power than American ones. Exceptions include cars available with a manual transmission only in America, not in Europe.
I would personally enjoy it if they replaced the 2008 M3 with a newer model (2011-12?) fitted with the DCT gearbox, as the shorter gearing more than offsets the added weight. But the 6-speed is also a great transmission.
For American players, the American Z4 M could be better because the dials are in mph and you can always compensate the deficit in power with beefier engine upgrades. Unfortunately, most of the rest of the world measures speed in kph, so this choice is not without its drawbacks.
well they have the 2016 M4 GTS at least. I could have sworn there used to be a e46 GTS in Forza as well, maybe that will make a return. But overall I gotta say, cry me a river There are 39 different BMW models in the game, you Beemer fans are not hurting. Meanwhile, I’m a die hard Toyota & Supra guy, trying to get by in FM7 driving the Subaru BRZ and the occasional Toyota Racecar. Sigh, not T10’s fault, I have to keep reminding myself. The next closest thing to a Supra is the 08 Z4 M Coupe though, and I can’t even drive that yet! lol
The older versions (such as the 2008 M3) and American versions of cars are there simply for ease and accessibility. The 2008 M3 was already made, might as well just port it over to F7.
