This issue has persisted since Forza Horizon 4, but in reality it dates back to… Forza Motorsport 2. The 2008 E92 M3 first appeared in Forza Motorsport 2 as part of paid DLC. It appeared in each subsequent title until Horizon 5 with zero modeling changes, and even recieved two Widebodies in its life.
The E92 M3 GTS first made its appearance in Horizon 1, where it was a paid DLC. It seemed to have a slightly different model, with different body proportions and shapes. For over 7 years FH1 was the only Forza game that featured this trim of the M3. Then in Horizon 4 the M3 GTS was brought back, but this time it was using the standard E92 M3 model, down to the interior. This M3 model is really inaccurate even for Motorsport 2 standards.
The entire front end of this car is deformed, the front bumper vents are too big, and so are the headlights, which makes the front disproportionate. Overall, the whole body is disproportionate, with the roofline being a bit too tall, and the whole car seeming slightly too short. It is not sleek in Forza.
The rear end has seen similar fate, with the lights being too big compared to the rest, while the factory wing is a bit too small. The rear wheelarches are also slightly too low, which can’t really be amended by upgrading the Suspension.
Other inaccuracies:
No factory roll cage painted in body colour (featured in Horizon 1!)
No RPM lights on the cluster (featured in Horizon 1!)
Front wheels as concave as rear wheels
Hilariously huge panel gaps
While the E92 M3 may still seem new, understandably so, the one in Forza is in a dire need of a rescan. Please give it the love it deserves, maybe even adding a lower version like the 335i. A full non-M kit, a full M-Sport kit and a full Hammann kit were available in Horizon 1, let’s not forget about that.
Muffler and diff cover are incorrectly modeled.

This is all connected to the whole model being deformed.
And the topics have been merged, good

I also have to add that the hood “vents” (the driver’s side is an intake for the airbox and passenger’s side is blocked off IRL) texture is missing rear of the mesh and so it is showing the ground underneath when using the hood view. In FM7, the regular E92 M3 had the same bug, but the ground was being shown through the mesh of the “vents.”

Well, it doesn’t look too deformed, maybe a little and the inaccuracies are small. Especially how the FH4-present version of the M3 GTS is downgraded by modifying & duplicating the standard M3 E92 model and slap the GTS parts on it and lack some of its features that were present in FH1 only.
If you install a Roll cage in FH4, FH5, and FM, it will include seatbelts for the Racing seats it had. But the roll cage is actually half from the real life car, doesn’t go all the way to the A pillar like an actual race car.
So the M3 GTS is considered “De-modeled” in FH4 beyond. I agree that it needs a rescan, along with the standard M3 E92. It’s an X360 model still being reused suddenly.
Think I’ll compare with GT7’s M3 E92 model for the most accurate example.
I’ve seen enough E92s to be able to tell that the whole Forza model is in fact deformed. It’s a bad model even for Motorsport 2 standards

E30, E36, E46, E92…
These 4 BMW M3 generations have persisted their FM2 models ever since! Crazy, right?

This has been bug-logged now

2008 M3 (E92) has returned to FM as of now aka Update 16.
I assume its model is still reused from previous titles, eh?

Any car who has no engine bay must be recaptured.

It’s most of the car models from FM1-FM4 having these, where the Driver side and front passenger doors are the only openable hinges, and they were left untouched. Meanwhile, some of the models like Skyline R34, Audi RS4 B7, Prelude Type SH, Lancer Evo IX MR, and FTO for example, have engine bays (and rear storage details if available).

True, but that still isn’t enough to make them look completely accurate.

I did some re-checking with the previous Forza games on this car, and turns out, it already has engine bay and trunk storage details since FM7!
But yes, it’s still not accurate in terms of body proportions and dimensions. I can recently detect that this car has exaggerated panel gaps around its model.
It must have had openable panels since FM5.
I don’t get why you guys are saying it needs to be rescanned, isn’t the FH1 model correct? They could just bring that model back in the game, right?
I’m unable to say just how accurate the FH1 model is, but it’s likely that it’s to a similar extent as either the Audi RS6 C7 (visible body deformations that I’ve missed) or the Nissan GT-R R35 Black Edition (very underwhelming body quality)
