blocking players

Did anyone else notice that blocking someones gamertag isn’t working anymore?
It was working okay for me until a couple of days ago I noticed some cheaters I blocked were in the same lobby as me. Today I did see someone I’ve blocked about a month ago and his gamertag was in the red (avoid) and today he was in the same lobby and he was still in the red!!
When I look at their gamertags they are still “blocked”.
Anyone knows if this is just another Xbox one bug? I’ve blocked 160+ gamertags for crashing/cheating so if this option isn’t working anymore I think that’s the end of online racing for me.

There are differing opinions about how it works.

From my experience I concluded that blocking someone means that if you do a quick search and it finds 2 lobbies for you to join it will add you to the one with the lowest number of blocked players in it.

I have never seen blocking work 100% but it does seem to reduce the likelihood of you getting matched with a blocked player.

Ya actually I did notice this the other night. I blocked some ramming idiot and ended up in the lobby with him again.

Xbox Support confirmed with me three months ago that despite the “you will not be matched up” with blocked players, Blocking only affects communications, not matchmaking:

The other post by support basically confirms what I said - it reduces the likelihood of getting matched up but it is not a 100% guarantee.

It always worked for me for 100%, so I think it´s weird it happened a couple of days in a row now, especially just after the Xbox December update.
I think it will be a fast downward spiral for fm5, if you´re more likely to be in a lobby with crashers and there´s nothing you can do to avoid them.

I believe people are probably getting matched up with blocked players more often now in FM5 because not as many people are still playing this game online So your odds of being matched with blocked players is much higher now.
