Re: Modern Sports Cars and tunes for the 240mph speed trap.

I found my Porsche Cayman GTS 2015 had previously been upgraded to S2 985 with a tune by ViiRuuSz named “94”. Speed rating=9.2

The first time I tried I got 234mph, second time 243mph. It was wet, that’s my excuse

I used the Tvr Griffith in the end with rewinds turned off. The problem is that I have an XBox One S which is slower than other machines so you have to anticipate the bends before you get to them, and at 200mph that means making corrections before you need to make a correction. So what you have to do is make a few attempts, and then remember what corrections you had to make, and then make the same corrections 60ft ahead of where you made them before. It’s hard!

Glad to hear that there’s some success with the weekly forzathon challenge! The GT86 has been the easiest for me followed by the Morgan. Thanks to El Barto for the Morgan point out. It’s cheaper if you don’t already have the GT86. The Morgan tune is 121,350cr, share code 135 788 324. I eventually got the 15 cayman there but it was tough. Also, the wind farm camera is the 3rd event of the live event that starts at Stonehenge. Live events eliminate the traffic in case traffic is being an issue.

Max, TVR does have access to same V10 engine as Morgan, Jag, Lotus, … 1212 hp (904 kW)

[MM - updated, thanks!]

Thank you for that awesome list Max. One note I would add is the GT86 has the supra 3 liter twin turbo also available which goes to 1601hp 1327ft-lbs torque. Thanks!

Now, on to the events:

The Trial - I had the Bentley tuned up from a prior event. It runs well, it is super sticky and can take so many turns without lifting at all. It has good lower acceleration and decent speed, but it is thin at the top. I was consistently beat by a Cayman. So I am going to revisit it and see if I can get a little more speed out of it at the cost of some grip. But it is very forgiving and easy to drive as it is. And thanks to El Barto, I am inspired to try a Donkervoort to challenge his Caterham. lol
2013 Bentley Continental GT Forza Edition Tune: 152 587 536

PGG - Are you tired of hearing about the Limo yet? lol. It was surprisingly a contender. The big difference is, the Railyard is flat to accommodate train cars…so you could get a decent performance out of the Limo. But yeah, when I ran it at Bamburgh, it was just ridiculous. But I wasn’t the only limo in the games, the other team had one too. I’m going to take credit for that.
2013 Cadillac XTS Limo Tune: 159 333 550 “Dirt Track Date”

Concrete Jungle - Ran two different cars. Both won, but neither seemed all that outstanding. The Abarth was solid in the turns but lacked overall speed. The VW was smooth but unimpressive.
2016 Abarth Biposto
2003 VW Golf 32

City Slicker - Had a BMW tuned up from a week or two ago. Felt it was a good choice. It was easy to drive, held a good line but a little slidey at speed. Took the wins pretty easily though the third race, you need to be careful with the sharp turns.
1981 BMW M1 Tune: street sweeper

Street Cred - I feel at C600, the AI just runs way slow. I tuned up a Firebird I had never run. Set out its maiden voyage and took home three wins.
1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

PR Stunts
Trap 2012 Ferrari 599XX Evo Tune: 148 895 824
Zone 2012 Ferrari 599XX Evo
Danger Sign 2013 Cadillac XTS Limo (no, not the same tune, lol) I had just finished the PGG and the Danger Sign is right there at the railyard, so I just changed which Limo I had. Apparently I bought it this way, so its tune is locked. Don’t know whose it is, but it is an S2 914.

Forzathon event - Moorhead Wind Farm
This one was tricky. I ran a few cars here, some came really close but only two have done it so far. The Lotus I ran two ways but requires two different tunes. If you stick to the roadway, Tune 1 has race tires and race shocks. It holds the turn well and sticks to the ground but it is a little twitchy when it comes to the lifts in the road. Make sure you are pointed in the right direction before the lift…because a correction will kick you a little sideways.
2012 Lotus Exige S Tune: MWF speed trap 1

But if you use the hill or offroad to lead up, Tune 2 has rally tires and rally shocks. Just coming directly down the hill is tricky because of the uneven terrain. Even rally style, I found the bumps kept me from getting enough speed as well as knocking me off my line. However, if you come from down by The Great Ridge right where the gravel ends and the road begins. Follow the road full throttle but turn in as soon as you pass the gravel road to the left, keep bending and you need to meet up right where the challenge road is straight (the black barrels are on the right side). The way is much smoother and keeps you from getting bounced around as much. Still tricky though. You’ve got to be doing at least 150+ by the time you get back on the road. This is actually how I got to 243mph in the Exige.
2012 Lotus Exige S Tune: MWF speed trap 2

And finally is the Morgan Aero Supersport. This car is a lot more stable. Only ran it along the road, holds well, is more forgiving and consistently took 240+. It also doesn’t mind if you dip tires off the road whereas the Exige was a bit more temperamental in that regard.

Seeing MonteoMax’s list, I now have a few more cars I’d like to try…AFTER…I get that 370Z to place. lol

I used an X class tune on the TVR Griffith for the Windfarm speed trap. I wish I could share the tune, but it was one that I downloaded over a year ago, the first time this challenge was up, and it looks like the original maker took it down. Took me a couple passes, and I failed hilariously. But it’s totally doable. I even did all 3 PR stunts with the same tune.

Yes i had my TVR tuned up to X Class from a previous forzathon at this same speed trap.

Did it easily on the first run but i will say that over the years i have had plenty of experience at this particular speedtrap that i could do it half blindfolded these days.

I can understand that it would be frustrating for those who haven’t had experience with it. Good to see you got it done, i too have played around with different cars on it and had some very laughable moments where i failed big time

Sadly i can’t share as well due to my limit being full and i really hate having to go through and delete tunes (very frustrating to say the least). I wish a list of tunes popped up that you could check off then delete, would be so much easier than having to go to each car and see what tunes it has.

Cheating or not, nobody seems to go silly way in trial - Ford Supervan 3
Grip for days, great acceleration, does suffer at top speed though, but times are there, there with others.
Tune shared as Road

It’s done. We’re all good. lol

Btw, regarding the Moorhead Wind Farm, I tried a few more tonight. The Tamo Racemo could not get near it at all. Could get the Honda S2000 close but just not enough. But the Eagle Speedster can handle it. It took rewinds (disclaimer, lol) because I couldn’t get a break with traffic but it was able to just squeak over the mark. With a clean run, and hopefully in the dry, it should be able to get a few mph over.

What’s wrong with rewind spam?

I did the Peel P50 achievement on Fortune Island without rewind, but it’s useless since I didn’t record it and there’s no requirement for avoiding rewind.

As long as you’re not cheating, just do whatever it takes to get that “Seasonal Objective Completed” message.

I don’t mind people completing the seasonal, but they are then telling people the car that they used, and how they did it ‘first time’. The relevant part is missing ‘they used rewinds’.

Have a car that can do it, approach from the west side and take a decent line through those corners before the straight down to the speed trap, it’s as simple as that.

I stated I did mine in the rain to illustrate the margin for error there is, PG don’t stick top 1% speeds/distance/points as requirements for completing the seasonal stunts.

There is nothing wrong with rewind. There is also nothing wrong with turning it off. Same goes for most other assists. We are all at different skill levels, and that’s OK.

Using rewind is certainly nothing even close to cheating. Cheating is breaking the rules of the game. Rewind is a game mechanic thats working exactly as intented. There is no rule anywhere that says you can’t use rewind on PR stunts.
And imho, using rewind is the best tool to actually learn how to drive properly. It allowes you to repeat situations where you have problems until you get it right. Thats how you learn.
When I learnd to play the guitar or the drums thats exactly what I did. You play until you come to a section that you can’t handle, and then you repeat it over and over again until you feel confident. And then you can make it in one go.

If rewind is cheating, why are there settings/custom controller positions for it? My guess is that PG wouldn’t put the option in the game if it is considered an illicit act…

It’s clearly an assist/crutch (one I am not ashamed to say I abuse the you-know-what out of). :man_shrugging:t2::woman_juggling:
