Yeah, but you can’t use the controller to transfer files.
No, but it’s a standard usb to micro usb cable…or at least you CAN use a standard cable instead of the one they want to sell you with the charger kit. Cheaper too. I have friends that bought a cable instead of the kit, I have the full kit for convenience. Every time I go to join an online lobby I reach for the cord…
Don’t kid yourself. The hackers are usually one step ahead of the developers.
The AH being absent from FM5 was probably the biggest thing that made me lost interest in FM5(thanks god the Nurburgring was still there).
So yes, we need the return of the AH for FM6.
Just bring them back, who cares if hackers and modders do what they did in 4 to 6, bottom line is i don’t want horrible suggested paint jobs for every car i buy.
Well the irony is that if you do that and modders steal our paint jobs then you will be left with only the ugly ones that are now suggested. Because if modders are stealing my hard work I certainly won’t be doing much painting.
The irony is that with or without the AH most likely there will be less quality paints available.
I’ll say this now: I’ll take the risk of my paints being stolen if it allows for the return of a feature the community loved.
Yes, I’ve had my paints stolen before, it sucks. But you know what? The person that stole the paint didn’t have my abilities, so he didn’t get very far with the ripped off paint. He tried to slap the layer groups onto other cars, but it looked horrible and no one supported “his work.” Eventually he got banned and that ended that.
Just living in this world is a risk. In the world of video games I’m willing to take even more risks. Bring back the auction house, storefront, and gifting, even if that brings along all of the problems they caused. The good people get their features back, and the baddies will still get caught in the end. If need be ask more players to help police the game. I can’t be the only one willing to devote time towards keeping the baddies locked down.
Agree completely ^^
Second that!! ^^^
^^^^^I Third it.
Having the StoreFront and Auction House kept me going in Forza 3 when there were no User Created Lobbies and it’s what I do in Forza 4 when I just don’t feel social or can’t find a room that I want to play in. I understand the frustration it caused the Dev’s and Mods around here but man we need them back cause honestly that(and no UCL’s) what’s held me back from getting Forza 5 so if pitching in to help police the SF and AH brings them back then i’m more than happy to do it
We will not be kept down by modders pillaging our storefronts and threatening our game. Madness? THIS. IS. FORZA!!!
Sorry, I felt like the last few posts were building up to this, and I fourth that by the way^^^
The auction house was and still is a great idea. It was a way for painters, tuners, painter+tuners to earn revenue from cars some put an extraordinary amount of time into to produce quality vehicles. It was and is a great place to bargain hunt. Nothing like knowing the value of a vehicle and sifting through auctions until I could snag a $100k, $500k, $1mil, or $5mil car for a quarter or less of its value. Nothing like winning an auction for that super cool limited production livery on a car or complete race replica. I myself made lots of money in FM4 by selling tuned vehicles and having repeat bidders on my different vehicles. Especially if I procured the base vehicle for a fraction of its cost or had a 50% discount on all its parts and the auction sold well above retail value of all parts and the vehicle’s value. Big profits. It added another addictive element to the game that kept me racing and bidding. I recently started playing Forza 3 again. AH was the first place I went.
On the downside some found ways to exploit certain aspects and ruined the auction house.
I am all far it coming back but not if someone can unlock my design I spent hours on and sell it as their own.
Another issue was the transfer of wealth and the way it made obtaining some cars impossible with $100mil plus bids. Grant it some made their millions legitimately because of a coveted design or car tune. Their was more hacked money than legitimate money though.
I think the current reward system for tunes and paints discourages newbies to either aspect of the game. Not receiving some sort of compensation from the first use that builds up with each download regardless of number of times per day is bullocks. The number per day should have been a small bonus not the only way to get a reward.

It was brilliant. Just bring it back. It engaged the community hugely and the thrill of bidding on cars against other people was brilliant. The worst part of getting rid of the auction house is that you can no longer trade cars with friends, that really really annoyed me when I found this out in Forza 5. Also, pink slips would be so fun to play with friends, similar to how people do wagers on FIFA. Pls Turn 10 bring the auction house.
+1000000000!
This and the storefront should be implemented! They were what made FM4 so great! There is little incentive to paint, or share tunes without any means to benefit. FM5 was disappointing because it lacks track variety, the AH and storefront. I mean, I would be better off on a PS4 playing Grand Tourismo.
imo, the only way the ah would work if you got rep for selling cars, and the more people want it the more rep you get.
Auction House imo is a nice concept, but can only work if properly policed, but that proofed to be a daunting task which required immense wasted resources which are much more needed to optimise the game. Looking at the current state of the the AH on FM4, I would surely vote against it if it was put on poll.
I am absolutely in favor of an Auction House.
I was really disappointed that there wasn’t one in FM5, although I was excited about the promises of the earning money through other people using my paints. Unfortunately, since I got an XBox One a bit late, there was absolutely no way for me to truly participate.
The problem is that, in the current FM5 format of sharing and finding paints, there’s no real good way for anybody to find you unless you’re already being followed by fans. New painters have nearly zero chance of that happening.
If I create a paint, it’s bogged down in the nether regions below hundreds and hundreds of other paints, most of which are, quite frankly, horrible or just something with a couple stripes and an XBox logo on it. Most people don’t want to dig too far down to find a pain on a car they just bought, and even if they do, it simply won’t show you every paint available anyhow. This is combined with the fact that the initial paints you’re shown are the “top” paints that have been downloaded and raced, which doesn’t mean it’s a good paint … it just means somebody clicked on it raced it. Most of the best paints out there aren’t even in the first 20 cars shown. It’s ridiculous.
The Auction provided an avenue for painters to share and sell, but the most important part was just being SEEN. You knew, no matter what, that your car would eventually be at the top of the list due to time, and people could find you and follow you and visit your store. It was a good system in that regard. No, it was a GREAT system, actually. It worked the other way around, too … you knew that if you visited the auction house and looked around, you’d be sure to find the best paints and painters out there, and you could visit their stores and see even more. It was a win/win format.
No matter how many paints I put out in FM5, I’m never going to get up to the top of any list, there’s just too much history in it. Worse yet, the current format isn’t conducive for a game lasting multiple years, not just because of the history, but because fewer people play as time goes by … yet you’re still held to the same standards of needing X number of people to race with your paints on their cars in order to earn any money, and that’s just not fair to anybody. It didn’t help that Horizons came out and so many people moved to it from FM5, either.
Earning money is so much slower in FM5, and with no income coming from painting, collecting cars is horrible for me.
I loved the auction house. I loved trying to get great cars for great deals, throwing paints on them, and reselling at a higher price to people who liked what I did. I never got rich from it, but I sold many cars a day and it helped me get some amazing cars for my own collection and afford constantly upgrading and getting new tunes as I learned to drift.
It’s a shame that the best and nearly only way to get yourself known as a painter in FM5 is to constantly post to Twitter and put up videos on YouTube. If you don’t do this, or have the time for it, you’re pretty much a nobody unless you put out some great stuff from day one, published in In Focus, or won a contest. Not that those aren’t great ways to advertise … they are! But they shouldn’t be virtually the ONLY way to get noticed. The AH allowed for everybody to be seen and make a name for themselves … or, at the very least, have the paints themselves make a name for YOU!
I understand that some shenanigans went on in FM4, but it really didn’t happen THAT much. The worse thing about it wasn’t that people were able to use paints that weren’t theirs, but that people were banned without even knowing what was going on or having any party to it. XB1 should help much to curb any of it from even starting, and I’m sure there are some clever ideas out there to make the AH smarter to prevent it even further. It could be something as simple as locking a paint on to a car in such a way as the paint becomes one object, such as in photoshop when you create art with multiple layers and save it as a JPG it then can’t be broken back down into layers anymore. This would make the paint look really bad on other cars (and I bet painters would start adding in weird [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] on parts that aren’t visible so that if the paint was applied to something else suddenly you’d see polka dots or the word “stolen”, this isn’t hard to do).
I don’t think the auction house really enabled stuff to be stolen, either. If you think FM6 will be able to be hacked, then any other paint sharing system would fall victim to it, too. In FM5 I can still acquire paints … if I found a way to hack it, I could have any number of paints I wanted and hack them all. It’s actually easier and free for me to obtain, whereas the auction house I’d actually have to at least purchase the darn thing first, and if it was a great paint it wouldn’t be cheap. The REAL offender was the storefront (and Snowowl has said as much: http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst2535_Why-i-stopped-painting.aspx?= ). Painters put up paints in their store, charged a max of 50k, and a hacker purchased it there … NOT the AH. All the AH did was allow for people to transfer credits that were purchased illegally.
I am absolutely positive that a better system could be put in place that functioned like an auction house but didn’t allow for credit laundering, and would certainly be better than FM5’s ridiculous paint sharing process.
The auction house was not bad for anybody, but it did allow bad people to obtain credits and in turn got good people banned when they didn’t know they were purchasing stolen goods.
One solution is that cars may only be allowed to be sold on the auction house with a paint job when the user has started a paint from a blank canvas and then locked it, making it a “verified” vinyl. Any other vinyl in the users library that hasn’t been created from a blank slate cannot be used, to include gifted ones. It can even be compared to others in the cloud for verification. So many things can be done, it just depends on how far T10 wants to take it.
No matter what, though, I think some form of the Auction House needs to return, it really brought painting to the forefront and did a fantastic job of bringing racers and painters together. The new system just doesn’t do that well, if at all.
I sadly would have never bought FM5 had I learned beforehand that there wasn’t an AH and I’m 99% sure I won’t be buying FM6 without it (I just got an Xbone and that’s on me of course for not researching).
If you don’t like the AH don’t use it and let the ones that loved the excitement of finding a good deal still have it. I couldn’t care less if some loser cheats money and buys and sales cars.
This community used to be awesome but now it’s a complete shell of itself and that’s just sad…
as someone who used to auction turnkey cars in FM4 by the thousand the departure of the AH has been a disaster.
To be honest without the AH and SF the whole in game economy doesnt make sense. Really it would be better to have car accessibility by achievement. Theres almost no need for in game credits. I have pushing 200 million with nothing to spend it on
I may be the only one here but I think it would be a great idea if motorbikes could be in the game. I’m a huge fan of the forza games and would love to see this incoperated in to the game
