At game start-up, I find myself at a Car meet...

I’ve been able to play the game for 19 hours now, and have reached level 24 (these car meet shenanigans started at level 20, but all my driving since then has got me to level 24).

After the game crashed once I was in the vinyl editor, once I started the game up again, I found myself in one of the car meets. I immediately left the car meet and drove to the central hub, and did some tuning of my car. After that, I turned off the game, and turned it back on again to see where I’d be. Once again, I started at the same car meet (Castelletto)! I stayed in the car meet and even bought one of my friend’s car there, and then drove around a bit to drive on some more roads I hadn’t driven on before. I eventually turned off the game to do something else.

The next time I turned the game on, I AGAIN found myself at a car meet - but not the same as last time. Has anyone else experienced that they end up at a car meet after starting up the game this “far” into the game? I don’t get why I don’t start up where I was when turned the game off. Any ideas? I’ve done several hard reboots but always start at the car meets.

I just assumed that’s where you start. Where are you supposed to start?

My game has crashed twice. Both times I ended up in a Car Meet when I restarted. It seems like only when the game crashes to you end up in a Car meet when you restart. If you exit the game normally you end up where you left off, at least for me.

Hmmm… It doesn’t seem to matter to me how I exit the game. I change to another app on the Xbox One (Netflix, or FM5), I turn it off into stand-by mode, or I do a “hard” turning off (hold the button in on the console for 5 seconds). Since my crash in the vinyl editor (@ level 20), I always start at a car meet. I have the digital download, not a disc. Maybe it’ll clear up eventually as I get further into the game.

I have the disc version so maybe that is the difference? Who knows, I’m just waiting for my 1,000,000 credits for playing past games.

I always start at a car meet, the one closest to where i was last at, whenever I start up the game. It’s just the game picking a somewhat centralized spot near your last to start you out once again.

^^^^^^What he said, thats where you start every time, even after the fa-nal-lee,as Ben says.

My dear friend Ben.

I really hope there is an expansion one day wherein Ashley comes to you to solicit your help in knocking off Ben by forcing him off a cliff and into the sea, after which she pays you in the only way she knows how…

She’s not a genius, poor Ashley. After my second barn find, she was so flabbergasted that I had found two barn finds IN A ROW!!! Amazing!!!

Now I understand what fast travel is for. I do mostly design in the game, so I guess I’ll be hopping to a hub to work on my vinyls each time I start up the game. Good to know though.

I have the disc version and every time i quit out of the game via right button and quit i start at a car meet. I thought that was just the way it worked? It’s not?

Maybe it is, but I don’t see how it makes sense with where you end up. I never start even remotely near where I was when I turned it off.

Yeah, I start at a car meet every time I start the game up. No clue why. And sometimes its far from where I last left off. Wish it would start me at the nearest hub that I stopped playing at. I also have the digital version

I know, isn’t it awesome? Play some showdown races while you’re there… it’s my favorite new feature.

On a tangent, I’ve been to a couple of car meets, and while there are plenty of cars and designs available, I have yet to find anyone with a tune for sale … anyone bought a tune from a car meet yet?

Well I haven’t done a hard reset of my XBox and I also only go from the game to the TV and back since the game came out so I’m not sure why I haven’t been starting at a car meet other than when crashing the game.

It doesn’t matter to much to me as I enjoy driving from place to place, especially since I have to open up all the roads to get the achievement.

Personally I like starting at the car meet. I have spotted a couple paint jobs so far and enjoy looking at the cars parked there. As good of a spot as any to start out from, especially when fast travel boards are done.

I’ve had one lock up (had to hold power button on the Xbone to force it off). I don’t know if there’s any relation, but when I start the game fresh it dumps me in a car meet as well.

Each time I get on, I’m in a car meet. Probably nothing out of order there.
