Yeah, that’s part of the “cons” side of things the base game has issues with. There are a ton of mods that deal with the numbers side of the game that will correct some of the base games issues.
Same thing as with the individual cars that are available through mods, most peoples interpretation of a 70’s race car is “well, it’s old, so the tires and brakes are bunk” like it’s riding on bias ply tires and drum brakes…
These cars get driven a fair amount, as often as one could given what it is. I’ve driven a few of them around Laguna Seca. I’ll see if I can dig up some videos. The shop owner has even driven them on public roads a few times.
But I’ve had my fair share of experience with some collectors and while I don’t always agree with their intent, I’m not convinced a lot of these cars would have been better off in the hands of ‘enthusiasts’. I’m just lucky to have been able to enjoy some of these machines. Everything else is a bit outside of my wheelhouse.
The second story is a showroom. Cars get recycled and move around. It’s not its permanent resting place, if that’s what you’re referring to. The second story showroom is open to the public, so when the cars are not being worked on or driven, anyone can walk in and get right up next to the cars.
That’s craaaazy, it really looks like he’s racing. How does his setup get the bumps and vibrations effects? I’m assuming that’s an actual physical effect coming from his setup and not just something that’s visual?
For me it’s less about the racing and more about the cars. I don’t enjoy racing for the sake of racing and the cars are what make it interesting. I do enjoy single make though. If I like the car.
I’m not sure what this is referencing. Are you referring to Assetto Corsa?
I’m pretty sure my game folder is around 800GB in file size from all the cars and tracks. That’s an odd criticism, given how active the modding community is. I don’t know how familiar you are with the modding community for AC, but a lot of them produce work that puts the outdated Forza models to shame. There’s a lot of really talented artists out there - luckily for us, some of them make virtual cars for the rest of us to enjoy.
I wasn’t really referencing any other games specifically.
I have Assetto Corsa and I just can’t play it. The UI is atrocious and it does not scale. I need binoculars to read the UI at 4k. The whole game is clunky.
Realistically speaking, a chase camera offers a view that quickly gives you proximity information you’d have in real life that you don’t get in many if not most driver views without some cumbersome camera movements, a niche multiscreen setup, or a fisheye’d FOV setting. Forza, in particular, tends to have a driver view that is literally like closing the eye that’s toward the center of the car and wearing a horse blinder on the other side.
That’s weird? You must have some super human vision capabilities that I don’t have then. Because in real life I can’t see the rear bumper or the sides of my car. And when I was racing I didn’t have the luxury of having a radio spotter either so the single rear view mirror was it for the backside and side vision was rather hampered by the helmet. Having a chase view camera on a pole would have been a great help.
Unless the game has a vast variety of cars, I’m not interested. So for me only 3 racing games exist. FH, FM, and GT.
But you did reference other games. Specifically, you referenced Horizon and Gran Turismo, the latter made by a different studio, in a different country, for an entirely different console. I don’t quite understand your take, perhaps you could clarify what you mean to say a bit more? I think that would help clear the misunderstanding.
As for the UI, maybe this is a console issue. You can scale every element of the UI on PC. In fact, most ‘widgets’ have multiple scaling options. If you’re using a resource like the ‘Content Manager’ then scaling the menus is pretty much a non-issue altogether, as everything is scalable.
Again, I am not entirely certain that I have understood your critique, but perhaps you’re specifically referring to games on Xbox. If that is the case, then I can understand your position a little bit more. The omission of that additional piece of information is what may have led to the misunderstanding.
