Try resetting the Xbox app, it might help. I had a few errors with FH3/FM7 myself, and resetting the Xbox app seemed to fix it…
This happened to me for both FH3 and FM7. Like other people said in another thread, uninstalling a dlc from any one of these games and reinstalling it from the store again fixes this. In my case I just uninstalled FM7 VIP from Settings/Apps/Forza Motorsport 7/Advanced Options on Windows 10 and then reinstalled it from the Windows Store.
I tried this, it worked once, then after that it didn’t. I uninstalled/reinstalled the game(s) and it worked (again). Closed the game down while I went out for 30 mins, came back and same problem again. Uninstalled add-ons, and no effect. Didn’t want to download both games again so as a last ditch, I reset the Xbox app, and it worked. Seems it’s completely random, and what might fix it once, may or may not work again.
I tried the same thing as people said, it only worked once as well. Redownloaded the game, worked instantly…next day i want to open FM7, same exact bs happening so i tried removing some DLC again and now for some reason its not happening anymore.
Did you try resetting the Xbox app at all? There was an update for the Xbox glass thingy the other day, and I think that kinda screwed things up.
Not an ideal response by any means, but have you considered rolling back to the previous version of windows?
Yes It seems like what I said above is a temporary fix. It happened again today and tried resetting the xbox app this time but it didn’t work… Something to do with the Windows Store for sure since it happens on both FM7 and FH3
I fixed the problem by changing my local windows account to an “online” microsoft account.
How did you do that?
Had the same issue, error in the system log:
Unable to start a DCOM Server: Microsoft.ApolloBaseGame_1.107.5368.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe!forzamotorsport7 as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error:
“317”
Deleting Forza 6 Apex resolved it for me for some bizarre reason, otherwise it was an immediate CTD on starting the game.
Microsoft/Turn 10 are at least hilariously incompetent these days, so whilst on one hand we suffer from their incompetence, on the other we do get to have a chuckle at their expense.
So now I’m struggling with this. I tried removing forza 6 apex but nothing changed. I get instant CTD when trying to launch Forza Horizon 3 or Motorsport 7 :(. Other games work like a charm…
EDIT: a guy from MS support downloaded and installed this http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/B/16B06F60-3B20-4FF2-B699-5E9B7962F9AE/VSU3/vcredist_x64.exe and now I can play Forza
