I have a full Thrustmaster setup with two TH8A shifters I use on the PC - one set to H pattern and the other set to analog input to be used as a handbrake. I use this for drifting on Assetto Corsa and Dirt 3 can also accept an analog input to be mapped as a handbrake. Does anyone know if Forza Horizon 3 can also accept an analog input has a handbrake? Considering I spent £120 on another TH8A shifter for this exact purpose, I don’t want to mod my TX base to rig a hydraulic handbrake to a button internally.
Please can an official member of the development team incorporate this feature into the game?
Thanks.
If you talking about control input. I do not see why not. It a type wheel controller. And it be nothing but a e-brake on the XBOX ONE controller. But you talking display. I think you are not. Modern display don’t support it.
Sorry I should of made myself clearer. I’m on about Axis inputs. For the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter you can switch it into analog mode so it acts like every other analog input - analog being things like the throttle, clutch and brake. In some games you can use this to map the analog input as a handbrake/Ebrake. I primarily use it this way in Assetto Corsa and I’m hoping FH3 will allow this, although I hope someone can confirm it. I uploaded a mini demonstration video of what I mean below:
When came to controlled input. I thought it type of wheel controller. But that a good question if it supports it. But then they also have to put on the XBOX ONE so both players on both systems on even ground. Because you will be playing each other online. I willingly to bet that they will do something like this later when they make one for XBOX ONE. And then send it as a patch on both version.
Since the demo just came out today and I looked in the settings and saw that you were able to map the E brake to an axis on Xbox, even though the Xbox wouldn’t know what to do with it, that means you can do it on PC I’m pretty sure. Industry played the demo the entire day with my setup and the game feels great. I just ordered a fanatec clubsport handbrake for this purpose and am very excited to use it!
YESS!! Thank you for confirming this, I just hope the PC version has the same function too. It’s kinda upsetting that I’ve bought the Fanatec Clubsport V2 servo but I can’t use it yet since I didn’t realise the Thrustmaster T3PA pedals aren’t compatible with it. The USB adapter from Thrustmaster is out of stock too I have to wait till Payday to get the Clubsport V3 pedals. You’re going to have a blast with that Clubsport handbrake though, although I hear it’s a little flimsy. It’s the best standalone solution without modification though. Happy drifting!
YESS. I have a Fanatec csw v2 also and have been wanting to use my ebrake. Havent had the time to make a custom mount for it. might try welding a custom thing. What do you have set up for mounting it? Just on the wheelside shifter with maybe a custom bracket? and is the wheelstand pro sturdy? I have a gtomega stand, and the csw v2 is pretty heavy and I’m on carpet so it wobbles more than I would like.
Personally, I have an L Shaped desk and i just picked up a random shelf that is roughly the same height as my desk for free on the side of the road, so i just have that shelf to my right and screwed the handbrake into the top.
Can’t speak for the other guy since I use two TH8A shifters rather than the Clubsport handbrake - one mounted to the side of the wheel using the standard shifter mount on the WheelStandPro and the other shifter is mounted using the WheelStandPro shifter add-on so there was no modification needed for me. That said I know custom mounting a handbrake can be done on the WheelStandPro and since the metal bar for the wheelside shifter is so long, there’s enough space to custom mount a handbrake there without obstruction to the wheel or shifter.
However, if you buy the Clubsport handbrake you have to bear in mind the lever isn’t height adjustable so you may find it’s not easily reachable, though that’s dependent on how high you sit and at what position you have your wheel at. This is compared to using an actual hydraulic handbrake for a real car where some of them have height adjustable levers. TheSlapTrain briefly talks about it here when he did his hydro handbrake mod: https://youtu.be/Tuhx2IyZI7A?t=9m49s
As for the sturdyness of the WheelStandPro, I was using the Thrustmaster TX for awhile and recently upgraded to the heavier Fanatec Clubsport V2 servo and it fits like a glove. No flexing and no custom moficiation needed. Though I assume the sturdyness comes from the fact there’s a large metal pole connecting to the mounting plate in the middle which is always the most structurally vulnerable point. So because it’s in the middle, that gives it all the support and rigidity it needs.
Unfortunately having the support down the middle is the reason why I’m thinking of swapping the WheelStandPro for the OmegaGT. This is because of the position I sit in, having the metal bar down the middle is a bit of an obstruction when I’m trying to reach for the brake pedal, forcing me to curve my leg and foot around the bar to hit the brake pedal which feels uncomfortable and unnatural. With the servo base plate on the OmegaGT being held upright at the sides, this gives you full leg movement free from obstruction.
Since you own the OmegaGT, is there any place to custom mount a handbrake on there?
I also just went on forza 6 apex to see if there is analog support and the fact that it says there is an axis input but when u try to bind it it doesnt work scares me a bit.
That’s worrying, I really don’t want to be disappointed here. This is probably the most excited I’ve been about a Forza title since Forza Motorsport 4 and i’d hate it to be spoilt by poor wheel support. After all, it is a racing game! It just so happens that FH3 launches on payday for me so I’ll be buying the game along with the Fanatec Clubsport V3 pedals and I’m planning on getting the Clubsport Handbrake along with it too. I don’t want the purchase to go to waste if the game doesn’t allow a handbrake to be binded to an axis input
I too would like to know this. I hear they respond to tweets, but I don’t have a twitter account nor do I want to create one. I wish they had an official “contact me” page where you could ask them questions and they’ll respond accordingly. They need to become a little more interactive with their community because I hear a lot of the time these forum posts, even big ones, fall on deaf ears unfortunately.
Ya they should really get on that. Even if they don’t support the handbrake it won’t be the worst thing because I do also play dirt rally very extensively so it won’t go totally to waste
