You know that sharp lept uphill that has the dirt and then a long perpendicular tire wall with red and white tires. Its kinda an s curve that you essential make a sharp left up a hill and then a right down the hill to go around this long wall of tires. Its where if your like me you usually have to rewind there. Its after a high speed section and you carry way to much speed so you basically just slide onto the dirt trying to make the left turn and if your unlucky enough you go right into the wall. Sorry for the long description im just trying to make sure ppl know where im talking about. I usually get AI stuck there, all lmp prototypes now that i think of it, that just back up and go forward right into the wall. This happens for a few laps. I usually feel sorry for them (drivatars have feelings too) and try to bump them back on the track but they always turn right back into the wall. It happened twice during a 10 lap race, 1st was an Audi R8 01 for about 3 laps and second was a GT-One for another 3 laps. Anybody have this happen to them? I suspect its due to a low drivatar level for the track but im just guessin.
That’s Adenauer Forst. Someone made a thread about it the other day with a picture, and it was theorised that the tyre wall was added later and the AI don’t realise it’s there, so when they make a mistake they try to cut across the corner to rejoin. Probably happens more with lower-level Drivatars because they’re going to make more mistakes.
I do notice that in general Long Beach and the 'Ring have Drivatars that behave more like they did at launch, whereas on the tracks that have been in the game since launch I now have some very good races on Pro and Unbeatable difficulties - great wheel-to wheel stuff, you really have to defend, and guys put in consistent laps time after time, making one mistake very costly on Unbeatable. Hopefully the same will come with Long Beach and the 'Ring in time. This particular instance does however seem more like a glitch that needs a fix than something that can be resolved as the community gets collectively better at that corner.
I did an online race the other day with some friends on Nordschleife+GP with no end timer. I finished a couple of minutes ahead of some of the other players, and when my AI got to this corner, it spun with another AI. The following two minutes were spent with me watching my car backup, run into the wall, and then do it again and again and again…
Yea this was on unbeatable…so the tire wall wasnt originally there? When did they add it? Cuz honestly i never noticed it not being there?
I mean at some earlier point in development. Drivatars might be based on our driving, but their knowledge of where the track is will still be pre-programmed. It’s only a theory though, and not one I can take credit for, but it makes sense that stuff like that barrier might not be there all the time but is added in for events like the 24 hours, so it could have been a later addition for T10 that wasn’t there when they scanned it.
An error with this basic knowledge of track limits is also what I imagine is going on when Drivatars run wide down the Hangar straight (following the Becketts/Maggots complex) at Silverstone, putting the right-side wheels onto the grass lap after lap. Does this happen for anyone else?
I’ve had this happen on the Top Gear test track on the last turn (Gambon). AI will spin and get stuck between the two walls constantly just forward smash, reverse smash, forward smash, etc.
Recently? I felt like the drivatars changed from day one.
