I think the recently implemented Challenges section is a great (overdue) idea that rewards players for investing time in the game and can incentivize players to interact with different game modes as well. Instead of only a handful of challenges, why not add more that entice players to play more often?
Daily Challenges could include:
- Drive x laps at ____.
- Complete x multiplayer races.
- Tune a vehicle.
- Level up a vehicle x times.
(These daily challenges would ideally be low pressure, optional, rotating objectives similar to GT 7’s Daily Jog reward system. The daily challenges would be primarily credits focused.)
Weekly Challenges could include:
- Complete x amount of online races.
- Obtain a podium in an online race.
- Purchase a new vehicle from the marketplace.
- Set a personal record time at ____ in a ___ class vehicle.
(These could reward an increased amount of credits, the occasional vehicle and/or suit.)
Career Challenges could include:
- Collect x amount of vehicles.
- Collect x amount of career trophies.
- Collect x amount of online podiums.
- Create and share a tune/design.
- Get a top 20% rivals time.
(These would reward good chunks of credits, unique and distinct suits, and exclusive vehicles.)
Seasonal Challenges would include new content focused objectives, such as:
- Drive x laps at (new track).
- Complete x amount of races in featured online hopper.
- Win the featured racing series.
(These could reward, say, one seasonally themed vehicle or outfit.)
This improved Challenges system could motivate players to play more often and engage in modes they otherwise might not interact with. The challenges could also simply be ignored and completed passively/accidentally as well. At the end of the day, I doubt any players would be upset with a few extra credits or additional incentives to polish up their skills, try a new mode, or populate an online server.
