Access key login error message

Subject: Forza Horizon 4 - Authentication Error with Key Access/QR Code; Unable to Login

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a persistent issue with Forza Horizon 4 that’s preventing me from logging into the game.

Problem:

When the game prompts me to login, attempting to use the “Key Access” method (using the QR code with my iPhone/iPad/Android device) consistently results in an error message, something along the lines of “An error occurred while logging in with the access key.” (“There was an error when entering with a security key”). I cannot successfully authenticate using this method.

Crucially, now I can’t even log in with my email and password anymore.

What I’ve Tried:

  • Standard troubleshooting steps (restarting the game, restarting my PC, checking my internet connection).

  • Ensured that Windows is up to date.

  • Verified that the Xbox app on my phone is up to date (reinstalled it).

  • Attempted to use a different mobile device for QR code authentication (if applicable).

  • Checked basic account settings.

  • Disabling overlays.

  • Checking DNS

  • Nvidia driver

  • Processes

Important Information:

  • Forza Horizon 5 works perfectly fine. I can log into FH5 using the same account without any issues. This suggests the problem is specific to how FH4 handles authentication.

  • I’ve already contacted Forza Support but wanted to see if anyone else on the forums is experiencing the same issue.

What I Suspect:
