About the new Endurance Races

Rubber banding + an inability to clear penalties during a pitstop = frustration… :weary:

Woo Hoo… Coming up on an actual day off where I have no plans and, I can finally have time to complete a career endurance race.

What difficulty level was this on out of curiosity?

See, now this is why I say there is some shenanigans going on. That Regal has no business being up in first overall. That car won exactly one race in it’s career…

I am currently playing that Brands Hatch Endurance Race, just for your information ppl after 15 laps it starts to rain, you need wet tires then.

You have the choice between using hard tires then you can drive 14 laps then go get wet ones, or you use medium tires and switch to wet tires in lap 10 already. I just used medium, did put on another set of medium in lap 10 and then it started to rain in lap 15, then I had to put on wet tires.

Just to add: the drivatars did the first stop around lap 11. When it started raining I had to change tires from medium to wet. Wondered if the drivatars would do the same…

… but they stayed out … and pitted in one of the last two laps of the race.

No further comment.

I just finished the Kyalami race, and all of the sudden, the AI is so slow! I normally start mid-grid, and I normally have a good race on difficulty 6 where I need to race go the finish line to win.

But at Kyalami, the AI didn’t upgrade their cars as much as they normally do, and I ended up lapping every single opponent, using a M-M tire strategy. Thing is, when I pitted on lap 13, I came back out on the track more than 30 seconds ahead of the best AI before they even had pitted.

I don’t know what’s going on. Why would the AI’s behaviour/skill change all of a sudden?

I’ve never driven the #10 Chevy before, but it was sweet. With full aero, it was really good on this track.

I used the Jackie Chan Oreca car and had the same experience. AI was waaayy too slow (even on lvl 8). Ran a mid 1:34 while they were running in the :39’s.

Probably a combination of them seemingly using fixed PI in those multi class events, the AI not being that fast at Kyalami generally and it having more difficulty overtaking the slower cars on that slightly tighter course (compared to Road America).

Yeah, the tyre wear is ridiculous. If the game says it’s a two stop, then the AI should be two-stopping, especially when it’s wet and there’s no compound variance.

I used the Oreca, did one pit stop at the end of lap 12, I used medium tires, difficulty 4.

And the game did this after I finished. Gotta love the freezes in loadscreens.

Of course it did.

Yes whatever the improvements were in the previous series, it’s fair to say normal service has resumed. Won by 6000ft in the Scooby at Brands and the Kylami… well I’ve no idea what in the name of Forza that was. Utterly pointless but I’m sure some people will be pleased

I used the Oreca for the first time. Can actually get it up to 974 with a wheel change… not that it matters. That car by the way is by some distance the worst car I’ve ever driven. Had a base P1 tune on it but the thing literally has no mechanical front end grip. Can take high speed sweepers great, show it a slow hairpin and thing just slides. Constantly counter steering mid apex is no fun. Maybe it can be tuned out but it is HORRIBLE.

It was a bit difficult to drive, but I wouldn’t call it horrible. I wanted to try it out because I never heard of that manufacturer.

Brands hatch AI 29lap is an odd one. I tried qualifying on mediums and the drizzle meant i was topping out at about 1:42, with the AI getting 1:40. So i decided to start from P24 on Wets for the main race. It was drizzling at the start and i was able to manage 1:38 with not too much effort. I got to P7 by lap 3 or 4, but by lap 5 my tyres were on minor damage, so i pitted at lap 6. I put 8laps worth of fuel in judging by my tyres and resigned to a 4 stop strategy. they pitted at about lap 12 and i just had the lead when ther got out the pit lane. but my wets were worn in the drizzle and i pitted a lap later. As has been said heavy rain started at about lap 15. The wets were then lasting alot longer in the heavy rain than the drizzle but I had the minimum amount of fuel in to pitted for the 3rd time at about lap20. I think i was lapping 1:40ish in the wet, and had move upto P1 by lap 27ish, then P2 stuck to my tail.

I really do think the AI sandbags/reverse rubber bands to allow the player back in here. They do seem to ignore tyre wear and artificially put lap times out of nowehere.

On lap 28 of 29 all but two AI took a 2nd pit. So i was on a 3 pit strategy 6/6/8/9 w/w/w/w, 2nd finished 6s behind me, 3rd 16s each on a 1 pit strategy, and then 4th 33s behind me on a 2 pit strategy, having pitted on the penultimate lap.

Until you see spray from the rear tyres you’re better off on slicks. Grip is around the same (moisture dependant l) but they wear out super quick. I started on hards( should’ve done meds) and had to pit for wets end of lap 8. Tried to make it to the end but had to pit for more wets at 21. The AI also had to pit. I chose the Scooby because it is by far the best on tyres being RWD.

Aero works great on it. Low speed has awful front end grip. As I say maybe that could be toned out

The Brands Hatch touring car event is tough, probably partially because I haven’t driven these cars before. My attempt to tune the Peugeot didn’t go too well and I was fighting severe understeer most of the race. Finished 5th overall, not far behind 2nd, but 1st only had to pit once so had a 15 second lead over everyone else at the end.

I’d like to know why they didn’t ghost back markers in the endurance lobby?

Had one try and wreck me earlier. Lucky i seen it coming and ghosted so he went off track.
