I used to play Forza Horizon 1 and had an amazing time playing it, I particularly loved playing online against other players. Now having gone next gen I’m thinking of buying Forza Horizon 3, but one thing is still keeping me on the fence, not knowing if I should. I’ve been watching numerous YouTube videos about the Forza Horizon 3 multiplayer modes and I’m still not sure what to make of it. In Forza Horizon 1 on the 360 I could join a lobby and play back to back races without the free roaming element being a part of it. Now my question is this: Is this still the same in Forza Horizon 3?
Judging from the YouTube videos I’ve watched you can race against other players in online mode still but not by joining a lobby and just enjoy race after race, or am I wrong? I seem to be getting the impression that after a race I’ll return to the free roaming element of the game having to drive my way to the next race.
For multiplayer I’m not really interested in the free roaming element, I just wanna race down tracks like I did in Forza Horizon 1 on the 360. This for me is a deal breaker and I’m considering going with Forza Motorsport 6 instead because this game seems to be all about racing around tracks and beating lap times.
Uhh, you do understand that you just explained all racing games. If you don’t want to race around a track and beat lap times, don’t play a racing game.
Back to the subject at hand, you can choose to just not move and wait for the other players to reach the destination.
Driving between locations is fine to me, the OMG long transition loading time in-between these isn’t. Can’t tell whether it’s crap server or Xbox hardware.
Yup, that’s one of the reasons that I returned to playing single player. You don’t need to drift towards the next race for about the same amount of time as the race itself. You can set a higher number of laps to increase rewards, you can set to race against a specific group of cars, like Cult Classics, Asian Sports Cars etc. You can see the track in front of you because AI don’t drift around every corner creating ridiculous amount of smoke. AI don’t swap engines / drivetrain to make all the cars 4WD so you are not forced to do the same to stay competitive. And AI doesn’t ram you.
Find this game online very inconsistent. With freeroam it’s basically people racing up and down the runway for hours in V12 swapped cars or ricers drifting around the carpark for hours. I use freeroam alot mainly for trying out tunes and tweaking cars without all the drivatards getting in your way like they do in single player.
Online adventure is much better if you want to just do events instead however it’s about 90% of the time full of complete idiots who use your car as a brake on every corner. Very occasionally you’ll find a decent adventure lobby with decent skilled drivers but this won’t last long. I do go online mainly to mix up the game and keep it a bit more interesting.
Uhh, you do understand you fail to grasp the meaning of my post? “All racing games” except Forza Horizon 3, henche why I posted this message in the first place. I can’t be bothered wasting my time having to drive in free roam in between races, or play game modes in which I have to capture a flag instead of beating a laptime like with “all racing games”.
Thanks to all other people who did understand my question. I went with Forza Motorsport 6, absolutely loving it and happy with my choice.
