A Message to the Motorsport Community | January 2025

Specs to back it up, i own and play gt7. Do you think every person who bought it liked it, do you think they all still play it, the answer would be no. I dont know if you heard but at launch people had quite a few issues with the game. At the time i personally didnt mind because for me it was a nice nostalgic trip down memory lane, but that wasnt the case for everyone.

People didnt like the economy, many didnt like the “career”, many people didnt like the ai, many felt and still feel the multiplayer is worse than gt sport, many people dont like the lack of updates and people dont like the lack of communication with Kaz as there is truly no community engagement at all he just does what hes gonna do.

Once again what im saying is not about one game being better than the other or how many sales the games have. I think forza would do fine if it was on the ps5. I dont see why this is some crazy opinion, it would be a new racing game on a console and people who like racing games would check it out like they do with every other racing game.

This is 100% correct, its truly a game that has gone the wrong way at almost every turn. The worst part has been their unwavering dedication towards these missteps. Still yet to learn theres no right way to do the wrong thing.

Right. And by that spec GT7 is universally unloved.

I play FM and everything you say about GT7 applies to FM. Therefore, FM must be universally unloved as well. Just applying your own logic.

Everything you said about GT7 is [was] true. But the developers communicated with the player base and made changes. Everything you said about GT7 applies equally well to FM. Except the developers didn’t listen to the player base and didn’t make changes or only made moderate minimal changes.

At this point in the lifecycle of FM it would be a business catastrophe for T10 to port FM over to PlayStation.

Phil Spencer once told Sadia Nadella, “This is a half-baked investment. We should go all-in,” which helped bring Xbox back to life.
I think Forza is in the same situation. Especially in FM2023, everything is half-baked and doesn’t feel new. It would have been better to remaster FM4 and add cars and tracks.
Someone who truly loves Forza and can go all-in should be in charge of production.
All current T10 staff should watch the “Endangered Species” video made by the staff back in the FM4 era again.
The number of people who like cars is decreasing due to various regulations on cars. FM should be such that complete beginners can play FM and grow into car lovers.

In addition, PS5 is more popular console in every market. Some of which Xbox has extremely limited availability and no online support. So if you live there and like to play Xbox games you have no option but a PC, and FM23 requires relatively high end one.

GT7 is vastly more popular, all the big racing youtubers play GT7 and don’t even attempt to touch Forza.

The largest one that still plays is ISuckAtDriving.

I watch my friends play GT7 and salivate at all the features that game has that aren’t in Forza (and will probably never be.)

I didnt say it was universally unloved, i said it wasnt universally loved. If you dont know the difference between the two i dont really know what to say.

As far as things changing due to player feedback, forza wins on that point. Regardless of how big or small, the changes have been more numerous in this game. They adjusted the economy and added sophy ai in gt, career and multiplayer have not unless you count “extra menus” as a change to the career.

I dont know if you read the message turn 10 put out, but the business catastrophe is already here. Is it the end of the motorsport franchise kind of catastrophe, possibly. If they were able to put this game on a switch id see it as a positive move nevermind playstation. I still dont see the problem with this opinion.

Yes i know that’s why i think it wouldnt be a bad idea.

To anyone believing that porting FM to any additional platform would improve the game: Turn 10 is already struggling to get the game running properly on Xbox consoles and PC.

Gt7 is more popular, there are more playstation owners likely double if not more than xbox. Gt7 is a good game, i never said it wasnt. It does have many features that this game should have adopted especially since it was out a year before this game.

But there are certain parts of the structure of multiplayer that this game does better like variety. I also think car selection is stronger in forza, i think gamepad feel as well as ffb when tuned properly is superior to gt’s. Sounds although not perfect are also better in forza.

They both have their positives and negatives. Gt7 is the more complete game of the two. It is of higher quality in both design and execution. It exudes passion, something that imo forza used to have but lost which is imo a big reason why this game failed.

What changes? They only changed carXP. All other things they’ve done are fixes or adding missing features… And still FM has a ton of bugs, an 60% of features of previous games are missing…

I have both series consoles, the game seems to work fine. I dont play this game on pc so couldn’t comment on it other than what ive seen and heard which is its better than at launch. Whether its at an acceptable level or not for most i couldnt say.

Why is this blowing up in this thread right now. A simple opinion that they should put this game on playstation. Im in no way defending this game or insinuating its better than gt7.

Like i said big or small forza has had more changes. This game started with almost nothing so it would be obvious its had more changes than gt7 as that game was released in a finished state.

To be frank, GT7 is a bad GT, nearly completely missing Singleplayer campaign that’s been replaced with that insult of Menus… But as a game it is technical Masterpiece. It is beautiful and consistent.
I own High-end PC, and since few months PS5 Pro, I also owned standard PS5 before that.
And GT7 even on standard PS5 looks way better than FM on max settings RT, RTGI everything on Max…

When it comes to consistency, GT7 is consistently detailed, and balanced.
I’m the other hand FM has terrible consistency, you have some car models that are newly scanned and look very good, but also you have old Sirrocco that has wheel hub sticking through rim, 16 months after release!!!
FM lighting situation is so wonky that game goes from beautiful to what a hell am I looking at just by changing a time of day…
And so on, so on…

And still I prefer FM, mainly because of chase cam and gamepad feel…
But FM2023 is a trainwreck… There’s nothing that it has on FM5 that was already a low point.

New features to franchise in FM2023 are:

-unbalanced carXP system
-terrible implementation of RT that effectively ruined look of the game
-new tree models being scattered around tracks

Everything else is lifted from FM7 in last ditch attempt to have something to release…
Why that happened we will probably never know, but it will maybe end up being death sentence to whole franchise…

I believe there is a setting in GT7 that gets rid of the fixed camera position in chase mode. It’s not much, but it does move a bit, albeit not as much as other racing games.

Being on PC FM already has enough of a potential player base. Porting game to PS5 especially in current state will just provide more ridiculing and comparisons with GT7. And it will take dev resources that are needed in fixing of the game.

What they need to do, if they want to save this game is:

  • prepare 20th anniversary edition/update that will include:
  1. all of the missing tracks from FM7 (they can lock time of day and weather options to make them look good and to limit scope of porting them)
  2. Player stats, with track/car specific stats
  3. New career mode
  4. Ability to create championships
  5. Private lobbies
  6. Top 10 most requested cars
  7. Real roadmap for the future

I don’t even think this is hard to do MS/Xbox have the resources to do it. They just won’t.

Yep. But still too stiff, it makes saving cars from a slide way to hard, especially for somebody coming from FM/FH.

Gran Turismo is Gran Turismo, and Forza Motorsport is Forza Motorsport.
What kind of game will FM be developed into? I can understand that users are frustrated because the director’s vision is unclear and no roadmap is shown.
At the very least, CaRPG was not a fun experience for users. The director needs to seriously think about how to provide a fun experience to users.

It seems this thread’s gone off the rails but either way, I’d welcome Forza Motorsport on PlayStation.

If it means more people come in to race and populate Featured Multiplayer, it’s a positive for me.

And he needs to do it FAST.

I’m tried of being left in the dark on the game’s future.
