First of as expected having been an avid forza fan since FM2 it looks great and seemingly handles quite well with a controller, but TWO VERY IMPORTANT things are missing.
NVidia Surround for triple monitor support, i drive cockpit and i did not spend a lot of money on gear to be stuck on a single 21" monitor (PLEASE remedy this) with a healthy 5760 x 1080 resolution option span across three screens.
Of course wheel support is coming but seriously we have to wait what were you thinking ?
I know its beta, but even Turn10 know this is a massive thing to leave out, how the hell do you drive a car with out a wheel ?
And while this is not a real car, again most sim racers have spent serious money on there rigs so why would we play using a controller ?
It just feels cheap and makes me not want to bother, that said i have indeed done a couple of races up to RAPTOR bowling and then i lost interest, i want to race online with other contenders not play football or 10 pin bawling in a car.
Well, if the other option would have been to wait with the release until everything is fixed, then I am happy they went this way.
I think it is a bit much to expect triple screen support or even proper wheel support at this point in time. Let´s be realistic here.
I would however expect the dev team to implement exactly that over the coming months, and there will be plenty time for moaning down the road if they can´t deliver.
Let´s not beat this free horse to death before it even walked out of the stable.
First off I didn’t call any one lazy so get off your high horse
Secondly one would assume knowing facts or not if the (windows 10 OS) was supposed to bring all platforms together due to its build how could it not allow for wheel use that is intended for an xbox platform. I mean they blow this big horn that windows on phone, xbox and what ever else, so what is the deal ?
Was supposed to make things easier NOT harder, so ?
You are correct sir… Even though UWP is meant to be an universal framework, the limitations it currently has, will certainly hamper the quick/swift development of games and support.
That said, the layering on Windows 10 or on the One is staggering when it comes to everything from kernel, drivers, applications and peripherals. I think most people don’t even know what’s going on hence their (somewhat shortsighted) posts asking a for a legitimate feature.
If only all these whitepapers were a mandatory read before installing/using Windows; it would take away an awful lot of misunderstanding.
And there’s a reason why Wheel support will come soon: Redstone update must come out first to add those features to Windows.
I for one I’m quite happy with this release: on my i3 with 8GB and a crappy GTX 730 1GB it runs (badly, but somewhat playable). Kind of reminded me of playing underground on a S3 virge
