Today a new car has arrived in Forza Motorsport 7. The 2018 Honda Civic Type R is now aviable for free for every player.
I have alreday driven it in game and I must say: I like it! Its faster on my test track than for example the BMW M4 (both being stock) and for the first time ever in Next-Gen Forza history the Forza front areo does not look ugly!
Also added this month is the 1997 Honda Civic Type R Forza Edition featuring the bodykit that has been on the normal 1997 Honda Civic Type R since the April update, which has been fixed. This car will be aviable for every player in one of the upcoming Rivals events.
Now, just because this car is added to Forza 7 doesn’t mean that it’s a sign that Japan could be the location for Horizon 4. I’m still believing in The Greenie here: - YouTube
While I am happy for those who like Honda’s, just another meh for me.
I will race it once just for cheap thrill’s, then put it away to collect dust. It can keep the Odyssey company.
As a 2018 Civic Type R owner, this is awesome. This is a fantastic car, bar none, and it belongs in Forza. Can’t wait to play with it. Thank you Turn10 and Honda for making this possible
Yet another vehicle in the game that has been “Turd-down”, 4th one in this Division alone. So the most powerful Civic ever mass produced finally makes the game but can’t have a P.I. greater than 500 in its Division; however, the Civic Si in the Sport Compact Division can get a 525; WTH?
This game is unfriendly to power builds. If you’re looking at power to rate a car, you’re doing it wrong.
That being said, power in the 2018 Type-R got cut by 69 bhp with the plate and that is a BIG reduction to make it fit.
EDIT: Indeed, just took this car for a spin at Laguna Seca and the homologation does not seem to hurt its performance at all. If anything, the restrictors greatly help this car with its wheelspin. Just give it a try: Sport brakes, Race suspension, Race sway bars, Race chassis, Race differential and Race front bumper. The car handles like a dream and will be neck-to-neck with a stock Civic.
Fully aware of the fact that the Type R is more than just a snail; the game actually does do a great job of shining a light on just how well Honda cured FWD’s Bane of existence, understeer. Its the only other M.H.H. to be able to put the power down with little to no wheel spin with all aids turned off, the Focus RS the only other one I’ve driven to do so. While I’m happy with how the car drives in its Division form, I simply wish the game would have allowed the M.H.H. to a P.I. of roughly 525-550, keeping pace with the M.S.C. division. Cutting a car’s power from the factory by 69 is nothing once you remove the restrictor from the A45, it pretty much doubles. I’m aware that the perception of a certain strength will often times be the very weakness; allow me to find out. Race parts have no business on “street cars”; in my virtual world at least, okay, race drive-shafts but that’s it.
Was really just frustrated yesterday before posting that; spent just about an hour trying to set up a B Class M.H.H. race. So I can’t have the entire field represented, okay fine, lets try the RS3, A45, Focus RS and myself in the Type R; all cars more than capable of an easy 600 P.I… A.I. would not find the Focus or the RS3, but would substitute the TT RS for the RS3. Even if I set up the buckets for the specific cars; infinite loading. I love racing the “clock”, but its still would be nice to put all these “over powered” Hatches on the same course, 24 deep and see how things turn out. Yes, I will most likely be 1st, but how does the rest of the pack stack up; did the A.I. lump cars together proving a more consistent victor or was it all mixed-up due to Drivatars. What car rules, what track? I loved the Division racing aspect for the single player campaign and multiplayer, but on my own, simple Class racing regardless of vehicle type should be as easy as one filter, not twenty, particularly when the game easily allows for all division participants to reach said Class/P.I. I could never understand how Junior Johnson could have said, I’m actually paraphrasing here, “The fastest car I ever drove was a Shine car”; this coming from a Champion NASCAR driver. Then I bought and played Forza 7; still a great game but it tries too hard to equal out all things one moment, then throws the mold out the window the next. If you can have a 2500 HP Hypercar and an 800 HP Hypercar compete then you can figure out how to achieve the same result with the other divisions/classes as well, but instead we get base cars competing with top of the line, Mustang/GT350. Yes, this is achievable in real life; however, the base model Mustang that beats up on GT350’s on a regular basis isn’t what a vast majority of us would call a daily anymore; it had to lose something in order to gain something.
Just tried the race again; A.I. accepts all cars and parameters, goes to load and infinite car selection loop, except for myself. The game won’t remember you are in the 18’ CTR the next time you turn the game back on. Its now making both of my cars the same color/design when they should be different, as well as misplacing a few of my saved designs. They still show up for Public Download but are no longer found in my design catalog.
After such an extensive reply I cannot disagree, lol.
Free Play is this game’s Achilles heel. All we needed was Horizon’s Blueprint system, but we ended up with the advanced restrictions from Forza 6’s custom lobbies instead, and the game can’t even upgrade the AI’s cars to match your own outside division racing.
I’m open to suggestions on how to make it better, but I’m not getting any custom designs either, so the race becomes even less immersive than it could have been.
I got the FE 97 civic on my very next level up. I’m in the upper 500-low 600 I’d guess.
Comparing it to the stock Honda, it has a LOT less horsepower and retains the same C500 class. I do have a tune on my stock Honda to maximize it, but it’s still a C500 car. Iirc there’s ~55 horsepower difference.
Honda has a lot of cool cars in the game already…thanks to Turn 10 for the new wheels…it looks like they are making a effort to jazz up the game a bit!
This 2018 type R really is a sharp looking car. Can’t get over how Honda did their thing with it in terms of not only performance but looks, it’s a head turner. Some might say it’s over the top visually but I think it’s done just right.
