1st question: Why is that only 5 friends show up in career races? I have more than enough friends playing Forza 5 to have a full lobby and frankly would rather pad their pockets with drivatar credits than random people. I could care less about driving against randoms in career mode. I’d much rather drive against my friends who can actually drive competently.
2nd question: How is the car paint job for other drivatars in career determined? For example, if they have the car with a paint job (including factory paints); does this show up in career? And if they don’t have the car, how is the paint determined? Is it based on most popular/T10 picks? I keep seeing the same kind of paint work and am just curious on how that works.
Also, shout out to V12 Ermy’s drivatar. His drivatar could literally destroy an online lobby or at least finish no worse than 3rd. His drivatar, I’ve noticed, has been running around top 600-900s in career races and is usually 6-9 seconds faster than other drivatars on unbeatable. Very cool to see some truly challenging drivatars on occasion.
I’m in the same situation, but I can think of a couple reasons for the randoms in the field.
It mixes things up rather than just racing the same limited group of players.
It is a chance for players who don’t have friends with Forza and the 99% of players that don’t visit message boards to still have their Drivatar in races.
I think the limit is set to 5 friends just to mix it up like IceMan says. Just imagine if you were new to Xbox and had no friends yet, nothing but a field of randoms to crash against…
I think the paints are randomly selected from the current picks or popular paints - at least that is what I have observed when comparing cars from my last race to the sharefront offerings. That said I do often see cars with default liveries or stock paint colours, so maybe there is a percentage of cars that would not select a user created livery, maybe 1 in 10 cars?
On the drivatar front - I always see one car destroy the field. Not sure what is going on with the balance there, but I noticed I would work my way to 2nd place in the first lap then have to go in full hotlap mode just to catch the 1st place, and then because the race is so short I would normally be about 10 feet behind as they crossed the finish line…
When in comes to the paints, they either use the T10 picks or they use the design they actually used on that car. When my friends race any of my cars that I made and use a design for, like my Aventador, my drivatar will be using my design instead of the popular ones.
I am just a bit miffed that my wife found my Drivatar more handsome and more manly than me and has run off with him and he is only 27% complete. Is there anything T10 can do about that “glitch”?

Well I have to admit my drivatar is rakishly handsome and pretty smooth. Complete opposite of me so I don’t blame her. And returning the game would just seem spiteful my divorce attorney has advised me against such actions.
I’m pretty sure the random Drivatars are not real people and are just ordinary AI. The gamertags exist, but have very low gamerscores and no friends and followers. I also never seem to see the usual zzZ iiScopezzzii Zzz type gamertags that seem to proliferate the modern gaming world.
I also dont think that i have seen more then 5-6 friends drivatars in the same race. I say its probably to spread out the CR earned by drivatars.
as far as the paints it looks like it picks whatever paint that the person has on there car in their garage as i see a lot of my friends drivatars rocking paints they have made. as far as the random peoples drivatars they probably just picked one of the paints that T10 show as the default couple. I dont think that a lot of people under stand that they can search for a better paint or not even download one.
