I’m sorry, I can’t find a thread where this is already being discussed.
It’s the third time in multiplayer that I find myself racing at night with no lights on. It happened with the Hyunday Veloster, Ferrari 512 TR and Jaguar XJ220. Tracks: Spa, Sebring, Yas Marina (thank god this one is well illuminated)
The mechanical headlights on the Ferrari were even down.
Same for me. Several times during night races or during rainstorms, I can barely see anything. I would really like a keybind to turn headlights on or off.
It’s actually a joke… Most of the time in night races; my lights are completely turned off! >:( I can’t see anything, race properly and even on well lit tracks it still really annoys me. Is there an update coming soon!!! There should be a button where you can toggle the headlights; so you can turn them on and off…
was doing some kind of race, don’t even remember, but it was that horrible virginia track, where almost every apex is either out of sight because it’s either downhill or behind some tire wall, well imagine that track being as bad as it is, with night, rain and no headlights
“amazing” job t10 did this time around, i lost count of how many bugs this game has because i run out of hands and toes to count it on
it’s like they wanted this to fail on pc or in general, considering that console version suffers from similar problems first with fh3 and now this “sigh”
Same problem in Virginia track. thankfully it doesn’t get completely dark, but during a heavy storm, it is really hard to see. I agree that a toggle switch would be a great option. No reason why they could’ve implemented it. Even GT5 had it back in the days, on older and much more inferior hardware…
I’ve had the same problem. I posted on it over the weekend and in one of the graphics bugs thread. Here is what I wrote up…
Full Le Mans night popped up in the rotation in the endurance hopper last night. From the start of the race, there were no lights rendered on any of the cars. No tail lights and no headlights.
Mid way through, I pulled over and started recording it…video below…no lights on the cars going by me…
At this time, I changed the view to outside the car and spun around it…you can see no lights whatsoever on the car…
Here you can see no lights rendered on the car in front of me as I pulled closer…
…and here I hit the wall cause I couldn’t see ****. =)
Well, it’s sad really. Such a beautiful game practical ruined by some heavy bugs/glitches and poor design decisions. To name one, and one that has been annoying me from day one is the lack of headlights! Not only does the game sometimes start with no headlights in night races, but you have NO headlights whatsoever during dawn and dusk races! Sure, you see the cars, and yours, having them all turned ON, but no light is cast from the headlights onto the track and surroundings (back of other cars, etc…).
Could it be the fact that all shadows cast onto the track during day races, be it sunny, dawn or dusk, are all pre-rendered and hard baked into the track? Then if you were to have realtime lighting coming from a headlight… then maybe it could mess up the look of the hard baked in shadows that are pre-rendered? Is this the reason why there are NO lights during dawn and dusk? And there are no shadows on tracks in night races because there is no sun, so the real time lights can’t mess up the scene, right?
This is probably also the reason why the game is almost 100 GB large, according to “DigitalFoundry”… all pre-rendered shadows onto textures to get a higher FPS.
