I am having an issue where NONE of my Xbox controllers are being recognized in Forza Horizon 4 PC. This started in the PC DEMO of the game. I have contacted Microsoft support numerous times. No one is able to provide me with any fixes or updates over this issue. I will explain the issue below.
This began in the Forza Horizon 4 DEMO. I had a few issues related to the controller. I would randomly stop working in game. After that it wouldn’t work at all. Re-installed/re-downloaded the demo once. Didn’t fix the issue. I saw a post early on that I was not the only one with this issue.
My issue is that the game doesn’t recognize any controller input between my Xbox One Wireless Controller, connected via USB wireless adapter. I tried my Xbox 360 Wired Controller and still have this issue. My game still does not work. It receives no input. My other games INCLUDING Forza Horizon 3 on PC. So which leads my to where I started trouble shooting and contacting support.
The Ultimate Edition was released and I was hoping the issue would have been resolved. Obviously since I’m writing this post it is not fixed. So I had started playing the game. Same thing happened again. Game wouldn’t recognize the controller inputs. I will get to my trouble shooting later. Re-installed/re-downloaded the game twice. First time it fixed the issue but only for maybe an hour worth of game play. Tried same process again, trouble shooting that re-download and re-install. Second re-download didn’t work.
This is when I tried to contact Microsoft support.
- My first contact was through email, didn’t get an answer for 3-4 days, so lets ignore this one.
- Second contact was through the AI then I was later connected to a real person. Explained my issue. I was told it was an issue within the game itself since i listed all of my trouble shooting and they “contacted” someone that confirmed my previous thoughts that it was in the game and that I wasn’t the only one having this issue. Was told that the end of the contact my support request is top priority and I would receive support updates every 24 hours until my issue is resolved. Didn’t get an email the first day. A day later I did (this was Sunday September 30th). I was provided with no information really just that my issue was still at the top if the list.
- My fourth contact was a day after my first. Wondering what the issue was why I wasn’t getting the email updates. I was provided with no information regarding the issue, just that my issue was still top priority.
So October 2nd, there was an update was released. This fixed my issue until today, 2 days later. Now still having the issue, AGAIN.
- My 5th contact was today, October 4th, 2018. I was provided with excellent help, although was not able to resolve issue. (was connected to the xbox/pc tech support) They walked me though various trouble shooting, non of them helped. No disrespect the the support. They tried their best to help.
So as read I tried seeking help. No resolve. My guess there is still an issue in something. No idea what it is.
Trouble shooting steps that were taken below:
Tried reinstalling Xbox Wireless Adapter 3 times
Tried Re syncing Controller
Unplugging and Plugging back in way to many times
Changing batteries
Resetting Microsoft Store
Reinstalling the game
Re downloaded the game
Using Xbox 360 Controller
Many more. None of these worked
Steps I tried that did work
Using my steering wheel, that works but G27 doesn’t work proper in this game. So not trying to play with it again.
Tried keyboard controls, this was tried in the demo also, but this presented another issue but with the keyboard controls. If I were to hold down the W key to accelerate and press the A key to tun, it would function as if I let go of W, same goes for any control on key board I choose. Another issue I’m guessing is related is that my mouse blink on and off screen when moving it. It sense where it its sometimes and sometimes it does not. My fix for that is holding down any key such as SHIFT to make the mouse visible, when I don’t hold it down. Mouse disappears.
If there are any questions over my issue such as my support request numbers I can send links to those if needed to show chat logs. I hope this helps get this issue resolved SOON! If any further explain is needed I’m happy to do so. Any help or suggestions would be great, but I dont think I can do anything since its a game issue.
