Is anyone having issues just trying to start the Winter Community Championship II? The game keeps telling me that it’s not available because it’s not downloaed and to connect with Horizon Life, which I am, to download it. I am able to start all and complete all other seasonal events. Has it been removed due to the issues in one of the events described in the posts above?
This is an issue that has happened in the past to others. The solution that has worked for others involves the system clock.
So what others discovered last week is to disconnect system from internet and set system date to last week/back to fall. Start up forza then can close it back up,essentially saving in fall. Make sure forza is closed, then reconnect internet and auto date/time. Start forza back up and should work. I dont have link handy, just have a minute on mobile to type.
Original discussion was last week in the horizon 4 community help section. Should be a bug post about this same issue. Only other found option was to reinstall which for most is a last resort.
Thanks for the tips. I did get it to work by restarting the game. Should’ve tried that before posting.
As for the race with the Mudkickers event, I didn’t run into the A.I. pileup others seem to be having. I was running in the A800 class. It was still ridiculously easy even on unbeatable. The only issue I had was that the front of my buggy was catching the lip on the second jump for some reason, halting me to a stop instantly, and it was only the second jump that was causing it. Couldn’t take it straight.
I’m not implying anyone here in the forum behaves that way. We are only a small minority and I would say most here are well behaved respectful racers. Unfortunately your casual player is not. Why PG cannot see that is beyond me. I comment every week so that maybe they will open their eyes. They can do this in a better and more fair way that does not necessitate doing the same time consuming frustrating event 20-30 times for some of us just to get a car. People behave bad in Forza, it’s a known fact. It seems crazy to force us into events such as the trial with a player base with such diverse skill levels. There are no consequences for bad behavior except for rare occasions. The game does a poor job of informing what is acceptable and what is not. It does a poor job of explaining even the point of such events and what needs to be done cooperatively in order to complete it. That anyone at PG thought teams would somehow magically work is deeply troubling and shows a lack of knowledge of their own player base.

But they do work, they work every week, if they didn’t work there are a great number of cars I wouldn’t have. Nobody is saying they are perfect but your doom and gloom routine is way over the top.
I actually agree with leetorts in that cars should stop being locked behind any online events. Forza now has emotes, clothes, horns, credits, spins, super spins, special paints, etc. Those could EASILY be used as prizes for these online events. Heck, hand out additional Forzathon points for those.
It’s quite clear Playground Grounds playing online in their own bubble of their network at the studio is VASTLY different than what regular gamers face online. Rarely do you hear folks saying something was “fun”. Taking 30 tries, as was stated above, just to unlock a car isn’t fun.
Seasonal championships, however, are great for cars as prizes.
Street racing in the middle of the day, Playground? Not very subtle.

In the end the trial fails due to the same misconception the dev team had for Team Adventure: assuming that unregulated team racing in an environment like Forza Horizon actually works. They’ve clearly had no knowledge of their player base.
The Trial challenges are not the only thing that hints at this either.
Think of a game that prevents players from selling duplicates won in wheelspins to “prevent people from being rewarded too much” while allowing other players to take advantage of the broken Legend system because “players need to be rewarded for their hard work”. Both statements issued officially by the team and in front of a camera, prior to and shortly after the game’s release.
I swear FH4 sometimes feels like a not so well made chocolate cake that tastes good because of the ingredients used in its making and not necessarily because of the cook’s skill.
For an easy win on the buggy championship … just use the stock Polaris 1000 .
All of the AI are RWD VWs etc… 1st race easy win …
second race at mudkickers? … Ha Ha! they cannot make the jumps so get stuck … another easy win (just make sure you are at 60mph for each jump)
I did the co-op championship only because I could combo it with the Forzathon challenge to get the five pass skills. So I threw a rally tune on the Camaro. Not an easy task to keep it B class. I would have tried running it bone stock just to force the AI into a lower class, but it’s Cross Country in winter, so I figured snow tires and rally suspension at a minimum would probably be a good idea. The first time I tried without it, I spun out into the woods after the first turn.
My team was pretty good, by which I mean they were friendly, courteous, and we mostly stayed out each other’s way. Skill wise… let’s just say that when I’m leading the team, our odds are probably not in our favour. Though, that was probably my fault due to opting for a higher PI. There was myself, and one other player who tended to swap 3rd and 4th place. I got 4th in the first race only because I missed the checkpoint, and 3rd in the last race, with the AI taking first and second. In the second race, we actually won, me first, them second, but only because the AI messed up, and got piled up somewhere. We still ended up loosing 2-1.

I shared a couple of tunes for the AMC 1971 Javelin. I picked that car because it starts off close to 50% weight distribution and isn’t all that light, so I thought it would be nice and stable. First time I went for snow tyres, but on one race I ended up losing to two of the drivatars, so I tried a different build with vintage race tyres, as they visually look to have a lot of tread, so thought they might still work okay off road while allowing more power upgrades. With that one I never lost to a drivatar in 12 races. If you use it I recommend using manual with clutch as the PI pretty much all went on power after AWD and tyres. Fortunately, if you don’t change the weight, the stock suspension works fine for off road. Just hold back a little bit on the jump up from the sand to the castle as it can tip nose downwards, but I saw a lot of other people having this problem to a greater extent with other cars. There may well be better tunes out there, but I never encountered another player pulling away from me over a complete lap, and it’s plenty good enough to beat the drivatars.
I did that crazy course in B class seeing is I dont really like the buggies to begin with. A class is too much power to put down in those things. I had my RZR and I did enjoy it. Only one of the AI didnt make that jump but it wasnt all that bad, its just different…
To be fair, the only time that the Trial events don’t really work is when the PI goes into S1 and above. And it may not be the cars or the drivers, but the latency issues I have experienced, or maybe it’s any combination of the three. I seem to enjoy them when the PI is on the lower scale. This one wasn’t too bad for me, got it on the first try, even though I already owned the car. I really do not like the Cross Country events as is, but, again, because the PI was low, it was acceptable to me. Yes, having good drivers does matter as well.
But that’s just my opinion.
For the Trials, they have been consistently improving each and every series. Newer players might not notice, but longer term and from start players do see a considerable difference.
The original trials used to be any up to s2 998. Unfortunately, there is a mechanical misunderstanding. Drivertars match your PI, so you only want to bring a car where you can compete against your drivertar. New drivers bring less than max. Experienced driver brings right at top. Plus the difficulty of the drivertars do vary. So new person with lower PI has a better race and an easier drivertar, so points for them, less for drivertar team vs coming in last. It also makes it easierfor higher PI people to points.
But when S2 everything, majority of racers just could not compete vs S2 cross country and stuff. So now they choose a PI where a reasonable level of people can run at max PI without being really constrained. So more successes as more people comfortably compete.
Next we have route choice. Those that raced the trucks event a while back know what I mean. The routes and weather had no usable vehicle choice. So it tough even for the best of us.
Warthog challenge, good concept, but the tracks chosen, 2nd and 3rd just were not able to compete on a stock/rental due to the tune they had. Now, there is more consideration for that.
Theme is becoming more of a thing as well. Classic prize car, classic challenge, classic events, everything is more themed and complimentary. Though this one might have been a better spring event.
Anywhoo, they do keep making them better, so just keep feedback and keep improving. Stuff like offroad classics is fun. Low entry cost and a bit of novelty, but still fun with them offroad muscle. I love my rwd rally Javelin.
(P.S. Try my series 5 spring challenge for more retro cars in the dirt)

I quite like Trials, they are my favorite part of seasonal events.
That warthog one was worst one imo. 2 races that was really short and dont have mutch corners made AI feel really unfair, and that one needs really mutch luck to get in team mates. I can just imagine how hard that challenge would be more casual players.
Any else have the “Deadliest Hatch” championship have some of the prizes already completed? When I checked, the first place reward was already completed. I finished and got the last 2 rewards. Now when I check the championship, the last 2 rewards are completed, and the 1st place reward is not. Shouldn’t they all show completed now?
Is this a looping championship where you can continually win these prizes? If not, then this must be glitched.

It seems that you are not the only one having this issue. There were posts already in this thread asking this very question.
Apparently, the Hot Hatch event is a recycled championship that was hosted back in October (Championship: A800 Super Hot Hatch at Princes Street Gardens Circuit (Reward: 1986 MG Metro 6R4)). Judging how championships are working on Fortune Island (not resetting per seasonal events), I would say that this issue is bugged for those who did it back then. I wasn’t able to do the October event, so I had no issues in doing the event this time.
The sprint race of the Super Hot Hatch event has the same trouble as the past season event. Rewind not available …

Just quit championchip and start it again.
Random mistake caused by rushing things.
The Street Scene seasonal has two events in the middle of the day, and I don’t think this should have happened.
