Winter #Forzathon Shop, Festival Playlist events and rewards through January 7

The Trial - Ran a DBR1 and I must say, not my best tune. Definitely fast, not suited for winter. Fortunately, you can slow down enough to handle the turns and then sprint away again. However, not so good with other drivers when you are being collected and shoved in to the drivers ahead of me. Took 2nd/3rd to a GT40. Fought with another DBR who kept trying to push me out of a gate. I have a Giulia tuned up as well that should run better. Going to try that next. But easy win, the AI was not really competitive I felt.

PGG - So I brought out the Regalia as kind of a joke. The joke is on me, this thing actually performed pretty well. Was great at blocking as you might suspect, but also had decent maneuverability. Not the fastest top speed, but you never get up that far, it’s all short sprints. By the way, what does the “723” mean?
723 Quartz Regalia - Tune: 362 822 637

Let it Snow - I tuned up the CCX as it had the lowest PI so therefore the most room to customize. Snow tires, race trans, etc. Tuned up to 994. Ran really well. Held turns even at speed, was easy to correct when starting to overshoot. And the AI was not present. I have been running Unbeatable for awhile now since it was suggested, but I went to Pro for an S2 Winter track. Thinking this could handle Unbeatable just as well.
2006 Koenigsegg CCX Tune: “Winter Tune”

New Ground - I have a great 900 version of the X-Class so I thought it would make a decent 800 as well. It does well. Holds a great track, but can bite and turn in a little quick so be careful trying to cut gates, you’ll end up inside of one.
2018 Mercedes X-Class Tune: 700 118 498

Hogmonay - I upgraded the engine, which dropped the HP but was lighter and gave better torque. Upgraded the suspension. Despite the overall power loss, it held the road well and easily overtook on turns. It’ is very easy to drive, but without the extra power, not so forgiving if you make a mistake. It doesn’t catch up well.

PR Stunts
Speed Trap - I forgot what I ran, I think a Lamborghini. But the important part was, starting on the West up on the hill and just run downhill straight line to the trap. Hits it easily without worrying about sliding outside of the bend in the road.

Speed Zone - definitely tricky. Took me a few cars, a number of tries, and then realized my Hoonigan RS200 wasn’t optimized. Upgraded, retuned, and ran it through after a few tries. Going to try with less exclusive cars to see what else works.

Danger Sign - Brought out an oldie but goodie. My AMC Gremlin X used to hold my top jump in this before I bested it with a Tipo. Kept clipping the inside wall but finally did a clean run and hit it. A ton better choices then that. lol

It’s the year of manufacture from final fantasy. I didn’t see this answered above.

I used it too, it is fairly entertaining.

I struggled quite a bit with the Koenigsegg championship. Last night, I won at least one race, and podium in the second. But the 3rd, up by Glen Rannoch gave me quite a bit of trouble, and I basically gave up.

Got through it tonight, though.

I wasn’t getting anywhere with my own tunes, so I downloaded one called “Seasonal Snow” by a user going by the name avivien (228 521 835)

Also, I turned TCS off last week, trying to get used to running without it, and forgot about it. But this is S2 class in the snow, so I’m probably better off turning it back on.

Podium in two races, and won the 3rd to take the championship.

If you’re doing OK, but not great, the game will arrange the starting grid to give you a fighting chance. That was my first saving grace. The second is that an AI near the front of the pack went off the road and hit a tree. After that, it was pretty much guaranteed. The Festival Sprint is a bit shorter than I remember it.

Tip for speed zone - destroy inside wall and then You can cut corner with that. Very easy.

Tip for top speed - start from mountain, You gain much speed which is enough to complete. Use winter tires and offroad suspension.

I hope this helps you to do the challenges

I used the 906 '66 for the Trial and absolutely slaughtered everyone every race, but maybe my teammates were just really bad. I lapped a human in the Astmoor race.

Classic Racers are very well balanced generally so I’ve spent a bit of time testing the main ones in S1 winter conditions at Astmoor. I’ve only done one 3 lap race in each (so really two flying laps) so times aren’t optimised and I used Manual Clutch for all of them, so don’t know which would suffer on Auto. I also didn’t search too hard for tunes but all the tuners below are highly respected:

Shelby Daytona - 55.372 (Rocklxd)
Alfa 33S - 55.631 (Grandma Driving)
Alfa TZ2 - 56.056 (Rocklxd)
Ford GT40 - 56.073 (Waznewz)
Lola - 56.240 (PO Driving)
Porsche 718 WP - 56.740 (Daddybee42)
Ford Cortina - 57.316 (WangKeRui)
Porsche 906 - 57.324 (Scaans)
Monaco KC - 57.416 (GreetedDust8)
Mercedes 300 SLR - 57.424 (Dezi9nF1)
Ferrari P4 - 57.774 (Hlundh)
Ferrari 512S - 58.559 (jkkuXXX)

The Daytona is immense here and would easily do 54s with practice, as I did a 56.0 out lap starting last and made small errors on both flying laps. Dust’s King Cobra is RWD but specifically shared for this trial. I’d recommend keeping it in 3rd gear or above once you get up to speed to limit wheelspin and it’s still not easy but it’s a fun more challenging option. I couldn’t obviously see an AWD one for the KC by a tuner I know. I’ll try and add to this list over the next couple of days and let me know if anyone has a suggestion of a car/tune.

For what it’s worth, any of the above times consistent over 3 laps will see you 10-15 seconds clear of the drivatars at unbeatable - anything under a minute should be plenty good enough to win the trial.

What kind of moron would have a championship race in the snow with Koenigseggs only? Even with snow tires those cars just slide from wall to wall, or at least that what mine does. The others drive like they’re on smooth clean tarmac. This event should have been saved for the spring.

That’s kinda the point, though, they’re going to make it a challenge to win this one (I’m just glad its not locked behind a TRIAL the way the early Rimac and Evo 599’s were).

If you can’t win it this time around rest assured it’ll show up either in the forzathon shop, a future trial (which sadly will be effing impossible cuz S1/S2 class), or at some point in the Backstage Pass.

I personally didn’t find it any more difficult then other championships.
Fit the car with snow tires, tune it and adjust your driving, to match conditions

I don’t think it’s there for a challenge, just to get people playing the season most don’t seem to like by putting the most generally desirable new car behind an event within it (which is almost admitted by PG by them putting the last few series’ 3 new cars into events during the other 3 seasons).

AWD swap + snow tires + some throttle control is all you need to win it.

I remember some months back was an S2 event where we ran Maseratis. WangKeRui and I were trading tunes. That one seemed more difficult than this one.

Not to self-promote…

…but I tuned up a CCX for this event. It had the lowest PI so there was plenty of room to custom tune it to my liking. It handles well. Recovers well. And I never felt like I was pushing it. So if you are having problems, give it a shot. Oh, and I run automatic so it should handle all levels of drivers. But like with anything in winter, don’t overdrive it…just let it do its thing.

CCX Tune: Winter Tune

Edit: you can get one through the AuctionHouse for 20-40k CR. I forget how much the upgrades are but still reasonable.

None of the Koenigsegg options are great at snow. However, the CCGT certainly isn’t terrible.

If you don’t already have one, conveniently it’s the prize for doing the Super 7 currently. Apply Rocklxd’s wet tune - which has dirt tyres - and you should be good to go.

Even a CCGT with race tyres can easily beat the Highly Skilled AI, which is all you should be racing against if you’re complaining it’s hard to unlock the Jesko. But if you’re struggling, no reason not to give it dirt/rally/snow tyres with the tune Jezza suggests, and assuming that makes it quicker in the snow, it should be possible to win even if you’re a huge amount slower than a top player.

Also, if anyone is still struggling, you can use rewind, and you can restart each race as many times as you want.

The bidding begins at 1,000,000 cr.

I just put five (5) 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale in the Auction House.
Each are using the same tune (200 887 546) from El Barto inc.

Hoping that some folks in the Trial with untuned cars find one of get a victory or two while enjoying smooth driving in the snow.

Nice idea but why would they bother when for free they can just get lucky with who their team mates are and have to do nothing themselves to win it?

Unless they’re a very low level I think anyone who turns up in the rental in trials has little interest in helping anyone else and is just hoping for the aforementioned luck with good team mates.

I am level 83 after a few days and no real idea or experience how many of the finer details work, yet i am forced to play and WIN either the trial or the quali that i have even less idea how that works.

So far the ONLY good online part was the forzathon, everything else was a total DNF show as there seems to be no balancing and rampant leaving of players if they even seem to loose.

I honestly wouldn’t even touch online at all if i wouldn’t be mandatory for the 80% playlist.

I used my tuned CCGT with race tires as I was too lazy to redo the build with snow tires. It really wasn’t that difficult.

Ccx with awd, winter tires, forza aero and gearing was a good experience. PI ends up being around 915 to 940 depending on whether you reduce weight or upgrade t engine a bit. This Championship respects that and matches the pi pretty well. Overall a nice drive.
