It’s good to have it as a safe measure so that I don’t start a race all over again. It’s also a good tool in order to practice corners in rivals. It’s also good in Forza Motorsport, at least, to use it in the last sector if I’ve dirtied my lap, because the next lap will be automatically dirty unless I use the feature to get a clean last sector.
So, if you don’t have internet or prefer to play offline…I don’t actually think it’s possible to get the Porsche. For those who haven’t ever tried Forza Horizon 4 in offline mode…let’s just say Microsoft apparently have really high expectations for FH4. There was a bug for the PC a while ago where if you clicked “Recommended Settings” it would switch everything to 4K. Not something that’s good when you’re only on a 1050ti like I am. In offline mode, you’ll immediately notice you there are WAY MORE Drivertars than in online mode…and more generic traffic. So, trying to hit 275mph on the highway, with extra traffic AND about 500% more Drivertars…isn’t easy. I tried it a few times…You’d have to find the perfect run. While online, sometimes it takes the game a moment to sync up worlds, so the Highway can be nice and empty. Not so, offline.
So…yeah. Also, Street Events…stop giving us those. They’re not fun.
Edit: Also, also, what…is that Forzathon weekly challenge list? 10 Ultimate Near Misses? Guys, save yourself time, just tune that up for your Street Races. You have to do 2 anyway, and I believe Ultimate Near Miss is a near miss at like 220mph.
Okay, I’ve tried quite a few cars for the Trial, this is my ranking so far, from best to worst:
#46 356 SL
914/6
550 '55
906 '66
911 '73
944 '89
All the above can comfortably win it by very large margins from the drivatars and I have shared tunes for them.
Cars I don’t recommend:
'57 356A - I didn’t try it for the Trial, just drove it around after tuning and it was sufficiently worse than the above cars that it didn’t seem worth using.
959 - Some people have said above this has done great, and yes, you can win with it (I won races with it), but it’s much slower than any of the 6 cars above due to not being able to get snow tyres onto it (at least, it didn’t seem possible when I was building it to 800 PI). #185 959 - I haven’t tried this, but someone else used it in one of the Trials I did, and he was in the AR12 club and tier 5, so my guess is he was a keen player who has played the game a lot since it came out. I beat him by an absolute mile, so my guess is this isn’t any better than the standard 959, but that’s without actually having tried it.
If you want to build/tune any of these yourself, you can’t go too far wrong starting with AWD and rally tyres, then using up whatever PI is left over on a mix of power and weight saving.
Snogardragon, it’s impossible to do two weekly challenge chapters at the same time. However, let’s definitely combine the porsche championship with the 10 ultimate near misses so that we can save as much time as possible from these #Grindathons
Okay. That’s not what I meant, at all. And before you make the argument it was…No…I know what I intended to say because I am me and you are not. What I meant was…you have to do the Street Scene races anyway. I think I mentioned that. Getting the insane 10 Ultimate Near Misses wasn’t intended to be part of that same step because…it isn’t. I know that. But…the best place to get those is the highway, anyway, and you’re gonna be there trying to get the speed camera…I know the 959 probably can’t hit 275mph, but…that doesn’t have to stop you from trying.
I combined the weekly challenge with the trial and championship.
I won all the three race of the trial with my tuned 959 and I completed the 2 step of the weekly, then I completed the 3 step of the weekly winning all the races of Porsche championship with another tuned 959.
For the 4 step, I completed it with a quick trip on the highway.
I disagree with whoever didn’t recommend the #185 959 for the Trial. I had one on my team and he always finished miles ahead of everyone else. Also had a tuned regular 959 that did pretty well too. I used the Porsche 550 though.
So yes, the 959 is a viable car for the Trial so go ahead and kill two birds with one stone.
Car/tune/suggestion for this weeks Winter seasonal trial “Back in time”. Tunes is my own, shared.
Trial: “Back in Time” | Dirt Racing | (A800) Porsche, 50s-80s
Car used: Porsche 1951 #46 356 SL Gmünd Coupe
Tune: A800 Dirt Time
This car (w/tune) is great drive, making the trial a breeze, podium win on all events, we went 2-1 as a team, the Gardens Scramble was mess, otherwise good team, easy wins. Tune uses upgraded stock engine, supercharged, AWD swap, running rally/snow tires, and ‘forza air’ because I found it too skittish without it. Nice grip (for snow), good balance when sliding around the tighter mountain corners in the event.
Cars/tunes/suggestions for this weeks seasonal. All tunes are my own, unless otherwise noted, all shared by myself (or others).
**Seasonal Playground Games | Mortimer Gardens | (B700) Modern Rally
**Car used: Ford 2003 Focus RS (Autoshow, 30,000 Cr)
**Tune: B700 Games
First attempt, team win. This tune/car is identical to one from a seasonal games from a few weeks ago, at the castle location. Driving in the snow has much the same issues as driving in the sand at the other location, so this tune works here as well, turns become wide due to loss of grip, anywhere ‘off’ the tracks will cause you to lose speed depending on depth of the material. The Focus is smaller and turns tighter than the other choices in this class, it is also the only one I believe you can get snow/rally tires on apart from maybe the one Evo,. Having snow tires helps a lot, especially on the ice areas, in fact I suggest driving on the ice when possible to outrun opponents, who if in the very popular ‘stock’ WRX, have zero grip. Tune is FWD, no swap, with rally/snow tires as mentioned.
Solo championships - Raced against Expert, Steering: Simulation, ABS: on, Traction/Stability; Off, Gearbox: Auto.
Tune used i the same tune used in last weeks “Get Hyper” event, unchanged beyond renamed so as to help locate it. Easy enough win with only a few issues: avoid the oncoming traffic, I didn’t a few times, with major loss of control requiring a restart. Further the game A.I. for me had a few opponents running Porsche SUV models, which were annoying as the seemed to think they could brake later than a lighter car in corners, the result been getting rear-ended and shunted through corners, once clear of them the race is much easier.
**Championship: “The Truck Stops Here” | Dirt Racing | (B700) Trucks
**Car used: MB 2014 Unimog U5025 (Autoshow, 100,000 Cr)
**Tune: B Max OG
First we have, a fleet of Tankpool trucks, all at stock P.I., yet one or two of them are faster than the rest, for… reasons? Ran these events in expert, once around the Tankpool convoy winning is easy - getting around the convoy is not always so easy! Once out of 1st gear this truck is reasonably quick, fast gear changes (auto), good pick up, however 1st gear is very slow, you will be left behind at the start line and have to play catch-up. Adjusted the gearing a few times, could not seem to make 1st work much better without losing out elsewhere, as a result, if using this tune you will have to catch the bulk (on expert it wasn’t always all for some reason) of the opponents. I also ran this event on unbeatable as I wanted to see if the 1st gear lag would making winning on unbeatable impossible, and it (for me) is very difficult to win, three laps (on the two circuits) is almost not enough, however winning is possible, if you can pass all the opponents without too much speed loss. Tune will out turn, out brake, and out gear (beyond 1st) what I faced - “stock” P.I. Tankpool.
Favorite event of the week, good fun. Wanted to use a car most would have/had, but never used. The Minor makes a great little dirt car, easy to drive, handles well once you get use to it having a tendency to lose the rear a little in corners. Brake a mudkickers before the two bigger jumps or you will possibly flip. Tune uses upgraded stock engine, with turbo, running rally/snow tires, RWD.
I also have another tune for the Opel 1963 Kadett A (Car Pass, Autoshow, 25,000 Cr) which will also easily win this event, “C600 Dirt Easy” - this tune is AWD.
While winning, my as well look good, here is the liverys I used for those interested in such things (GT/livery name):
Ford focus - this one is mine - Blinky Pac-man, I feel Pac-man ghosts are perfect for games, also have for the other ghosts, Inky, Pinky and Clyde.
The rest:
Porsche #46 356 SL- Thebrewsterr / Vintage Class
Porsche 918 Spyder -Aquapainter168 / Porsche 918 Game
Unimog -Big Evil / Navy
Morris Minor - Bocan righ / Ole goat58mm1000
Lastly, a tune for the weekly seasonal car if anyone wishes - Porsche 959 - S1 900 - “S900 Road Trail”
Weekly Challenge :
Porsche 959 ‘87
Used an old Winter Tune setup
The Trial :
Car used : Porsche 911 Carrera RS’ 73
Tune : A800 by AE86Cowboy
Won 3-0 at first attemps with a pefect team and left the Drivatars befind .
Team-mates cars was a mix of the Porsche 959 ‘87 and the
Porsche 914/16 ‘70, so i think they are worth a try.
Seasonal Playground :
Car used : Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. X GSR
Tune : B700 by AE86Cowboy
Had to compete 3 times and here is a little resume:
1 Attempt :
After losing the first event of “Flag Rush”, people started quiting and we ended up 3 vs. 6, a few seconds we were 2 vs. 6 and my team lost 3-0.
2 attempt :
Same as 1. Attempt - ended up 1 vs. 6
3 attempt :
Apperently the 3 time was the course of happines.
The (my) team won 3-1
Both teams was decent and knew how to fight for the honor and victory.
Dirt Cheap :
Car used : Acura Integra Type-R
EDIT : Wanted to try something different, so gave the ‘74 Honda Civic RS a spin instead and that little car is a beast - outran all drivatars :o)
Tune : “seasonal easywin” by ozwillinmel
The Truck stops here :
Truck Used : MB Unimog
Tune : B700 by ozwillinmel
Potent Porsches :
Car used : Porsche 918 Spyder
Car used : Porsche 911 GT3 RS’ 16
EDIT : Ending up using the 918 Spider with a Tune setup “S998 Road Potent” by WangKeRui
PR Stunt, M68 :
Ferrari 599XX E - with X tune
PR Stunt, Reservoir Ridge :
Toyota #1 T100 Baja Truck - reached 738,55 Ft.
Tune : S907, “dont Fall off” by DJS
PR Stunt, Johnson Terrace :
Ferrari 599XX E - with X tune
I have to laugh at my own edgy post. Those 10 ultimate near misses can be done in less than two minutes with on-going traffic on the highway in solo mode. I kept struggling to get even one, let alone two, but the highway trick makes it so simple. In fact, I did my eight remaining required near misses so fast that it felt like I did it in less than a minute.
I was also surprised by the 959 with all upgrades on, because it did very well in the two street races I did for a car that wasn’t even tuned. It was extremely quick in the straights, all I had to do was to block the AI on turns.
And thanks to Riperoo for the help with the custom route, that is a pretty big time saver.
The PR stunts were simple like most of the times, and with the monthly challenges it was enough fo get that new Porsche.
I did the trial with a 944 Turbo - Tune shared " A800 wintertrial"
absolutely obliterated the field - and I am not that good a driver …
First race :got to first sharp right corner ahead of the field it hooked up so well … I then played slow up/blocker to next couple of reds to give team an easy overtake , we then galloped off into the distance
It’s a bit ironic, given that it’s the reward car for it, but wow that Porsche 718 RS 60 is OP for the Trial out of the cars I’ve tried so far. 4 seconds quicker for race 1 than I’ve gone in any other car, and there or thereabouts for matching my previous best times in the last 2 races.
1987 Porsche 959 can be built for both A800 and S1900.
1) Own the car: Just drive it.
2) Win 3 Dirt Trail races: Trail is point-to-point. You don’t need a winter tune. Rally tires will do. The AI has bad default tunes for rally in Retro Supercars.
3) Win two Street Scene races: Run A800 since the AI gets faster in higher classes, which is worse for you in Street Scene.
4) Perform 10 Ultimate Near Miss skills: You need 320 kph/200 mph “relative speed”. Opposite direction adds speed (physics!). An S1900 tune will easily let you complete it.
Seasonal Championships (always on Highly Skilled level):
1) Dirt, C600 Reasonably Priced Cars: An FWD car (Golf/Fiesta) will ace it. AI is hilariously bad at Mudkickers. No need for Rally tires.
2) Dirt, B700 Trucks: Use the Unimog for Tarn Hows and the MB Racing Truck for the others.
3) Street Scene, S2998 Porsche: Remember you can cheese by running S2901. In case you want a challenge, the 918 Spyder and 911 GT1 are obvious choices.
Seasonal PR Stunts:
1) Speed Zone: Mosler, Apollo, CCGT, MC12 Corsa, Diablo GT-R, X999 VW I.D. R… Basically any S2 or X class handling car.
2) Danger Sign: Hoonigan RS200 or any AWD S2998 speed car.
3) Speed Trap: Use 599XX Evo with “cheat” 522 kph tune or Koenigsegg One:1/Agera RS. Rimac will NOT hit 435 kph. I think it’s doable with Bugatti but difficult.
If you have Rivals completed you can skip one Championship/PR Stunt.
