I made this post on reddit, and never got any fix, so I thought I’d come here and try my luck.
So I’ve been playing since release and notice no one in servers ever talk, they’ll drive by, honk and use the quick chat - thats about all I get as far as interaction.
At some point I cycle into a new horizon life server with roughly 50 people on it, the majority of them racing up and down the highway, there wasn’t a Forzathon event at the time either.
So I assumed there had to be some type of communication, and when I checked the player list I noticed that I don’t have a mic icon like everyone else, but a crossed out speaker icon - When I activate the mic in the options menu its just like everyone else’s, I’ve tried talking to a friend in game and they never heard me.
I’ve searched for this issue, and have found jack all about it, I assume it’s a Windows 10 issue so I searched for related games, like Sea of Thieves, and people have suggested going into the system settings and double checking that the Microphone has permissions on the games, well I have all that turned on, stuff is allowed to use my Mic. Yet I can hear people in the other game, but not in Forza Horizon 4. I use a Logitech G930, And I’ve also got Voice-Meter Banana set up, I turned VMB off entirely, made it stop using my headset on everything which actually made my issue worse, I’d hear the title intros of the cars, but not the main menu music or the rest of the game.
An option for PC to go in and select what devices the game uses to pick up sound and record voice chat with would probably help alot.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
TLDR; Windows Voice chat is probably broken, can’t fix it, need help, everything is on fire.
