I would really like this to be a feature. It would save so much time restarting rivals to tweet the setup on the car. Then we wouldn’t have to go out for an out lap.
True, but in real life you’d have to do the out lap anyway. Also, like Swerve said, the rolling start isn’t fast enough in most other games that have this.
Well that could easily be solved by letting you take the final few corners or if the track is short enough the final sector yourself. Yes the tires wouldn’t be up to optimal temperature but it’d still give you a flying lap which would be a useful banker lap. I also do the reverse thing when you drive backwards for like 30 seconds to heat the tires and then take the first lap but then you’re not really saving that much time.
Not a big deal because lap 1 will still be a throw-away lap.
For one your tires are cold and also it’s highly unlikely the rolling start will be at an appropriate speed. At the end of lap 1 you would have the opportunity to build as much speed as possible to have a great start to lap 2.
I know this already. Used to be a big into hotlapping everything. I also know that it’s super easy to dirty your lap by doing this in some cars. By the time you have it set up you could have already ran at least a half lap already for many layouts. Lol. Except for the ring and LeMan, it’s not that much of a time saver.
Ummm…OK…why are you asking me this? I know NASCAR has rolling starts. I also know that rolling starts came to Forza in the NASCAR expansion, and that that was a great addition. That’s all I was saying.
Really? I’ll record what happens in mine. Essentially all the cars in front of you during the rolling start, begin to brake creating a concertina effect and everyone rear ends each other and the rolling start goes from 30mph to like 3mph.
Ah, I have seen that, but to be fair I’ve also seen that with standing starts. The Drivatars are just really dumb. I wish we could bring back the standard AI from FM 3-4.
Unfortunately the rolling start thing happens to me every race. I think the AI don’t like to cross the start finish libe during a rolling start so they break, at least thats what seems to happen for me. The AI are terrible in standing starts too honestly.
Well Forza 2 had flying starts on its time trial mode, although v.max is lower than a regular lap. It would be useful for me as I have to drive backwards around the last corner or two, its probably making my driveatar hell for others too.
I’ve never, ever had that problem in any free play rolling start event. I have all my free play practice races set to rolling start, and it darn well should be standard across all events in FM7
I remember having issues where the cars would slow right down but the front rows would speed off, not every where but I couldn’t do NASCAR at Lime Rock or Road America.
