Why so many BMWs?

I really don’t like these little square boxes so that’s probably part of this rant. However I think it’s pretty funny that I’m about halfway through the game according to the stats, have never purchased a single BMW, yet have 12 of them in my garage - more than any other manufacturer by a long shot. Why does this game hand out so many. I wonder if there’s any kickbacks or deals made for things like that. Also there are a total of 19 BMWs available to purchase, and more than half of them look nearly the same.

The last time they built a really attractive car was the M1. In fact that might be the only time they built an automobile with any style. And if I’m right, they didn’t actually do the design for that, somebody else did. At least in Forza 6 we got there P1 LMR car that was a pretty sweet beast. Anyway, don’t take any offense, I know a bunch of you love BMWs. They just look like a box with 4 wheels to me.

Anyone else have a brand that they think is a clunker. Just throwing some opinions around here for fun.

LOL.

Seriously though, OP has a point.

I actually rather like Bimmers, but I see where the fella’s coming from. The marque was quite well represented in-game already, with over a dozen models spanning decades. Did 2 of the 7 DLC cars REALLY need to be BMWs?

Same goes for Ford, much as I love the P71 Crown Vic.

Id better not tell my neighbour what you said about BMWs after all the money he splashed out on his, it certainly sounds good, I dont even mind when he wakes me up it sounds so good.

I like BMW as a whole but the OP has a point. I can’t think that anyone really asked for the M2 considering there is an equally attractive M2 in the game.

If it’s in there for the sake of having another car, yay, but there’s already no way I’m going to go out of my way to try out half of these new ones. Anything past the 2014 M6 is all the exact same to me.

On the other hand, the classic BMWs of all varieties definitely draw me to it like bears to honey. I like the classics and would regret not seeing that variety of their significant, older models.

You are failing to see what tons of others enjoy out of that ol’ “box” of a car…

Yeah they should fill the game with every variation of AWD subaru and lancer NOT. Those are the most boring cars to me. Boring to drive and boring to look at. There is a lot more variation in bmw engines and chassis than the subaru and lancers, even most of those muscle cars.

Bmw is a class brand, and were ahead if the competition for affordable road cars, more so back in the 80s and 90s.

Not many people like these cars in the game because they are rwd and probably harder to drive.

I drive all assists off and my win ratio online is 33% mainly using rwd bmw. I love them and only switch to AWD for cross country.

Yes I own and drive a bmw e30 325i manual so im naturally biased. Every bmw in this game deserves it’s place except the isetta and m235i, they should of just had the M2 from launch

I have not won any bmw on wheelspin other than horizon edition and isetta. I think the purpose of wheelspin is to give you cars that you don’t drive to get you to try them. I havnt driven any retro muscle and seem to win those the most

Without the ‘square little boxes’ in the Forza games, i’d still probably be playing GT or actually no racing games at all. The fact that Turn10 like to delve into a manufacturers history to provide models from all decades to suit every taste is absolutely the way it should be. I like 70s, 80s and 90s retro cars, no other car games have the likes of the E34 M5, E28 M5 etc.

Ford aswell, you can’t complain there’s too many Fords when they’re one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world. You have US Ford, EU Ford and Aus Ford all producing different vehicles for their markets. There’s a small selection of EU Fords at present. No other games have a MK1 XR2, MK2 Escort etc. I’m greatful for these cars and want plenty more.

I prefer pen and paper derived cars, not wind tunnel/PC like they are today, ugly machines!

I’m neutral towards BMWs but I like to have all generations of the M3 in the game. M5’s I don’t care for that much, same for all the Audi A4 variants. Classics like the M1 and 2002 Turbo are my favourites.

Sure there are a lot of BMWs in the game but I think Ford, Ferrari and Chevrolet are still topping the charts.

There are a few cars that are probably over-represented. Too many similar BMWs, Audis, Ferrari 250s, Mustangs, Corvettes, Lancers, Imprezas… obviously, each of these have their own large fan bases (I’m a huge Mustang fan myself), but my preference would be for more distinct or unusual cars. However, I’m guessing the licensing for the above brands won’t be cheap, so you can see why they are heavily used.

I wonder why they have all M3’s but not C Classes? The C43 or C55 amg’s would be awesome rivals as opposed to just the c63. Or even the old E class AMGs which could give a run for BMW’s money

A simple answer is that BMW paying turn10 a lot to have as many cars in the game… Look at the Koenigsegg, they are back after a while with no new cars, this because the developers “turn down” the performance on their cars because the competition payed better.

I wonder if things like this are true. I often question exactly how we get the vehicles we get. Sometimes they pay licensing fees to the manufacturer’s other times I’m sure manufacturers request or even offer them the cars for free to be modeled for the advertisement they get. I would be very curious if any manufacturer has ever paid them to be in the game. I would suspect especially in some of the DLC car packs that that is the case because we get really new cars that are just coming out, which would definitely be a promotional thing.

Either way I think they do a terrific job in both this and Forza Motorsport to give us a lot of cars to cover everybody’s bases. Not complaining at all, just think some of the brands cars are over-represented, sometimes to the point of almost duplication. But I suppose that’s what happens when you get 400+ cars.

Posts like this confuse me, why are you complaining about the amount of cars in the game. Do you want them to be removed for no real reason?
People would just complain if they never had these cars. In Europe BMW is a very popular brand with a long history of racing, so a lot of people would ask why their favourite M3 isn’t in the game.
Instead of annoying a huge subset of their fanbase, they decided to leave them in but now they have annoyed the very small amount of people that think BMW’s have no place in a racing game.

Licensing, who knows. They apparently believe that the Ford Mustang GT500 is the only special Mustang made, They don’t take into account the modern Boss Mustangs, or the old Boss 427’s.

No Bugatti Chiron either. BMW’s are a dime a dozen, I guess that’s why.

Might as well throw in a Toyota Corolla too.

I haven’t bought a single BMW either, and yet I own more than I care to count, and have gotten duplicates.

I’m not complaining about the cars in the game, My issue is with the choices made. I was rather disappointed this time around with what was in the game and what wasn’t. You have to admit it’s pretty sad when people don’t buy a single BMW and end up with several in their garage within a week of the game’s launch. It’s kind of like “HERE DRIVE A BMW! DRIVE ANOTHER ONE! PLEASE DRIVE A BMW! PRETTY PLEASE?!”. lol.

It’s one of the most popular brands in the world. You can start there. There’s also the possibility that they want their newest cars in the game for marketing purposes. Honda and Hyundai have already done this in years past. If a popular brand wants to work with T10, T10 will listen.

I do agree that a lot of the newer BMWs get lost in the pack with all of the other similar newish luxury brands and any DLC with the cars doesn’t excite me.

Now, the older BMWs are pretty fun in Forza. There’s enough building room to make somewhat competitive but still feel like a BMW. They aren’t hard to drive at all and are decently competitive. Shouldn’t have much an issue stomping on most players since they suck.

I prefer it when turn10 feature the lineage of a car. Corvette has at least one example of every corvette from C1 to C7 and at least one mustang from almost every body style. I miss the 65 mustang in horizon 3 it was my favorite but maybe it will make a reappearance.

I appreciate swing the development from manufacturers so when they drop an entire historical lineup of one car it really adds some depth to the game.

I think why people get bored with BMWs is also what makes them great. BMW has had a well established design language and style that has carried through all of their models. So while you can see similarities between them you can still see change over time. But BMW is nowhere near as bad as Porsche for never changing their design.

Because BMW is love, BMW is life.

I wonder what cars you prefer, Lada maybe?

Why so many BMWs? Because they are a popular brand, and they made very important cars in automotive history. I’m happy that there are so many '80s and '90s BMWs in the Forza games. It would be great to have more Mercedes from this era - now we only have the 1992 190 Evo. For example the C126 560 SEC, the W124 500E could be interesting opponents for the 635CSi and the 1995 M5.
