Why has Turn 10 had to lock away so many cars in Forza 7?!

When Turn 10 announced the full car list for Forza 7, I was so excited for cars like the Zonda Cinque, '13 Clio RS200, and the B5 RS4 Avant! But then when I first got the game with my early access, I found out they had LOCKED away so many cars! Even when I reached Car Collection Tier 5, they weren’t available! They had even locked away the aforementioned Zonda, the Clio and the B5 RS4 Avant!! Sure, I was able to get the Zonda via the specialty dealer, but as the specialty dealer is now offering DUPLICATE CARS, I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to claim the Clio and RS4 as well! Even worse, these exclusive cars can’t be claimed via prize crates either!

Seriously, why did Turn 10 have to lock away so many cars when they could have just made all of them available (while still keeping the tier collection locking system) from the very beginning?!

Artificial longevity, that whole “games as a service” concept many modern games follow. Keep players involved by drip feeding content, locking many things for unknown amounts of time and so on.

I absolutely despise it too. I’m looking forward to the Regera and 2016 911 GT3 RS since the release and nearly 4 months in I still don’t know how, if (maybe a bounty hunter I can’t beat) or when I’m finally getting those two. Two cars that I adore (no, rental isn’t the same as owning them).

Especially not with the Regera, when I use it as a rental it’s stuck in a very long 1st gear. It might be a bug but it can also mean that these cars weren’t/aren’t finished yet.

This is no bug. The Regera has no ordinary gearbox. Because its a hybrid car, Koenigsegg developed a transmission which has only one gear. I strongly hope that this supercar will be available as a price in a forzaton soon.

LOL. Okay, problem solved. Thanks.

This is the most plausible answer.

In my opinion, if all exclusive/gift cars could be bought and sold via the Auction House it would help things out a great deal, as the people who miss the initial activities could still have an opportunity to obtain rare cars later on. Forza Horizon 3 functioned in this way and for the most part it was a good solution (even if the prices did get inflated after a while).

It seems that Turn 10/Microsoft have gone all-in on the “you need to take part in these specific activities” portion of this in an attempt to drive user engagement and limit the utility of the Auction House.

I look for the game to eventually go to online play and earning special cars to be an online event participation as is the case part of the time in Horizon 3 … hope not but I could see something like that happen

A lot of cars don’t show under the search function by model … the cars are not listed at all … but try this … in your case go under Ford and pick the DIVISION the Crown is in (Forza Specials ??? I forget atm ) and they will pop up that way.

I searched other cars that don’t show up by finding them under make and model but make and division works

Press X when in Ah search scroll down and enter your friends GT and then sellect search any cas he has up for auction will appear

Thanks guys but I tried all that and the forza specials doesn’t even show up on the auction house for me. I typed in ford and year 2010 and found them. Lol

Glad you found them! There are e few ways to work around cars not listed.

When searching for the Crown Vic’s did you try just selecting Ford and dropping to car division and scroll right to forza specials then hit search w/o using any other info ??? I am looking at 2 now for 20k buyouts … anyway works for me

My guess is they are saving most of the locked for Forzathons, now monthly bounty hunters and the Forza RC’s. They milked HE cars for a yr in H3 and I would expect the same here. After that year they will probably start putting them is the specialty dealer

Kids genuinely believe that having all their toys at once will make them happy, but grown ups know better

So he’s a kid because he wants fair access to the content he paid anywhere from $60 to $100 for? Sure buddy.

Cars are already locked behind credits, challenges, collection tiers and forzathons; specialty dealer is just another unnecessary layer.

Cars are not locked behind crates, T10 already confirmed that.

I hear what you are saying about patience. I now own every unlocked car and can say there are several that are locked which I would really like access to now. Especially the 2 Porsches which are keeping me from completing that achievement. If they want to make them forzathon that is fine but please do it sooner rather than later. Anyways I will wait since I must and will continue playing every night as I do now.

You can rent them to get that achievement
Just like everyone else has

I’m probably the only one that’s itching to get the Dodge Dart GT (The FWD economy car, just so you don’t get confused), but I guess that’s too overpowered of a car to be unlocked.

this is a divisive topic apparently, and I have stated my two cents on it in another thread so I wont make this a broken record thing. I can’t figure out how someone would be happy to buy a game that claims to have 700+ cars, but if one does not have internet access (you know, like most gamers) they really only have access to 610ish.

its like buying a car, say a ford, with all the options, but to get tinted windows you have to wait 4 weeks for ford to have them installed. power doors, 2 months. power locks, still waiting on it. yeah same principle, its annoying.
