WHO'S DISAPPOINT WITH THERE TX WHEEL

I HAVE HAD THE WHEEL FOR A MONTH NOW AND IT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT HAD REALLY BAD SHAFT PLAY RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX AND IT WOULD MAKE A GRIND NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL, 2ND TIME IT WOULD LOOSE CALIBRATION AFTER ONE LAP OR SO OF DRIFTING, I WOULD BE GOING STRAIGHT BUT THE WHEEL WOULD BE UPSIDE DOWN AND THE 3RD TIME IT WOULDN’T TURN ON RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX DOA. I HAVE ONLY USED THE WHEEL 5 TIMES ALL THE REST OF THE TIME I WAS WAITING FOR A REPLACEMENT TO COME. I JUST DON’T GET IT I HAVE A T500RS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. WHAT HAPPEN AT THRUSTMASTER TO MAKE THIS WHEEL SO UNRELIABLE AND PRICED AT $400 I REALLY EXPECTED THE QUALITY TO BE ON PAR WITH THE T500RS. I HAVE RETURNED IT AND I’M REALLY HOPING THAT FANATEC COME OUT WITH A WHEEL THAT WORKS ON THE XBOX ONE.

Dude, check your caps-lock key…seems to be broken as well!

On topic: You obviously had some really bad luck on your TX journey so far, feeling sorry for you. I’m using the TX for a month now and i’m thourougly enjoying it without any issues yet (touching wood…) Dont want to rub it in your face, just want to say thats its not a bad wheel to start with. But looks like the first batch of TX’s has seen some serious manufacturing issues and bad QA. The new batch (with 45 firmware pre-installed) seem to be much better in terms of reliability.

double post, sorry

I’ve started to use mine a lot more recently (still playing more FM4 than FM5), and I have to be honest, stock pedals aside I absolutely love it! For feel (FFB, rumble etc.) I prefer it to my Fanatec.

I am though worried that at some stage it will develop a fault (mine is pre 45 firmware) but generally what I’ve been reading is that this is affecting owners in the US rather than here in the UK / Europe, so I’m wondering if is a power voltage / wattage problem that’s causing the issues. At least if mine becomes faulty I’ll still have the Fanatec and FM4 to go back to whilst it’s being replaced.

Still waiting for the CPX adapter to be able to use my Fanatec Club Sport pedals - should be hearing something very soon based on the comms Jon from Basher has been sending.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with your wheel(s), but it just seems like you were having bad luck. I love mine and haven’t had any issue with it whatsoever. It’s held up like a champ and I think it’s a wonderful wheel.

This is why I haven’t purchased a wheel yet. The reviews on Amazon, GameStop, Wal-Mart, and more are all terribly low. I will wait to see what else comes out, plus $400 for a wheel is just too much when it doesn’t even come with a shifter or clutch. Plus, I am going to wait to see if anyone actually manages to make a multi-platform wheel, because I am fine with playing Forza and other console racing games with a controller. I plan to build a PC and I only want to buy one wheel, not multiple. So we will see. Maybe Logitech will figure out how to come out with a multi-plat wheel. It CAN’T be impossible. Not going to believe. There are too many multiple platform peripherals out there.

The TX is PC compatible, currently I have used it with

Iracing
Dirt 2/3/showdown
WRC4
Grid2
Rfactor
Assetto Corsa
Pcars
Race Room Experience

Also it is possible to find the TX cheaper by looking around the authorized retailers for your area/country.

The wheel base itself is pretty good, it works really well in forza, and works just as well on the PC. The FFB feels nicer on the PC, but there is a lot more options to adjust in a game (and the TX driver software) compared to forza.

That’s good to know. I saw something involving it with rFactor, but wasn’t sure if it was the same wheel.

I have looked for lower prices and am not seeming to find anything. Some used, but I want a warranty after hearing all of the problems with it. I don’t know yet. I really really want one, and I will have the money in April if I do intend to get it, but I am still undecided.

I like it, but don’t love it. It is ‘notchy’ around the center (on the XBox at least), I miss the ability to configure different FFB parameters like you can on the Fanatec, and the pedals are pretty horrible. I can’t say I am disappointed in it, I am more disappointed that MS didn’t just use open standards for wheels like Sony does. It is exactly what I was expecting based on the reviews I read.

Waiting for both Basher to release their pedal adpater and waiting to see what Fanatec eventually does. I would love to see a Fanatec wheel that incorporated the new vibration feedback to the pedals for braking. I may or may not eventually sell the whole TX set if something better comes out.

I love the wheel but my second wheel in a month died on me tonight, won’t connect to Xbox one or PC, it was a replacement from Amazon that was again pre 45 firmware. I’ve specifically asked in my returns details to be sent out the newest possible stock.

I’m really hacked off with it, I shouldn’t need to be on my third wheel now. It annoys me as the wheel is well mounted and looked after, it’s imo down to terrible build quality or quality control. I only went for it because madcatz delayed for another 4 more months.

So the whole merry go round of a ‘will my new wheel work?’ begins again.

It is a nice wheel when it works, that said, I’ll be canning the whole system when something better comes along, I’m sick of it.

I think there are a lot of people, me included, that when/if something better comes along, I’ll be selling my TX for it. it’s a great wheel, don’t get me wrong, but the biggest feature that would sell me on a new wheel even if it was the same quality as the TX is a dedicated headset port. It’s a pain to have to use the controller along with the wheel.
