Which car would be closest to performance/handling compared to a BMW 428i?

I will be taking my 428 to Sebring Racetrack and I want to practice using a car most similar to it. Any advice?

Taking my car to Sebring in real life and I want to drive a car In Forza which most resembles the characteristics of my 428i so I can practice, but I’m having trouble finding an equivalent car. The 428 has 240 HP, but it’s at the wheel level is is supposed to translate to 20% more HP. Torque is at 255lb. Would appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks!

I would say use the M4 that’s in the game, but it’s an exclusive car so you may have to use a rental if you don’t own it in-game. Try having a look at other cars in the “Sport Touring” division. They all have body styles similar to your 4-series, and generally handle in a similar fashion.

This is the kind of thing I use my spreadsheet to answer. You can view it via www.manteomax.com and filter/sort the columns, including power-to-weight ratio.

The 1986 BMW M635 CSi may be the closest in game, with 282 hp, 251 torque, and weighing 3329 lbs.
But given the age difference the suspension and body stiffness may be different along with driveline feel, and the 428 is quicker than the M635’s numbers:
0-60: 6.00 seconds
Top Speed: 159 mph

The 2010 Volkswagen Golf R is an AWD turbo inline-4 with 267 hp and 254 torque over 3188 lbs. You could also try the 2004 Audi S4 and 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI for AWD options, or pick any similar generation car and just upgrade the power and weight to match.

Probably the BMW 323ti with a single turbo conversion, sport or race suspensions, brakes, roll bars and roll cage upgrade to add weight and increase handling. Maybe STM on too.

Is Sebring even rated for a car that heavy?

It was designed for B17 Flying Fortresses, so it’ll be close.

M4 is most similar. Plenty in the Auction House if you don’t have one.

I must say an M car is on a whole different level to a regular 4-Series, but it’s the closest you’re gonna get, because a Bimmer is simply better sorted than a Mercedes or most of its competitors when it comes to the chassis. Yes, even the new ones.

I can’t remember which BMs are in the game but any 3 series would be somewhere in the ballpark. As already said, the 323 would likely be closest if you can get one. Despite its age there isn’t a great deal of difference in performance.

The 323ti is not comparable to an F32 4-Series. The wheelbase in that is much smaller.

If it was a 220i then it would be more accurate, but definitely not a 428i.

There’s only 90mm or so difference in wheelbase so for the sake of getting a feel for the track I can’t see that making much difference. The 323 has less power but it’s quite a lot lighter. I can’t think of any other car in game that would be any closer for the OPs purpose.

rent a BMW M4
put yourself in a custom bucket with the adequate power handicap (can we still do that?)

Done.

I think Forza has potential to give you a false sense of security if you use it as a guide for braking points and speed you can carry through various corners. There’s no reset button if you crash your car in real life, so I’d recommend not setting too high of expectations if you’ve never been on the track before.
