What like maybe 1psi? This isn’t how tires work. I thought y’all were going all in on the simulation with this one. Either the telemetry is lying or y’all dropped the ball on the tire model.
Agreed, tire pressures should rise at least 3-4 PSI during a race (depending on the tire). If you try to setup a car in this game based on real world data, it just won’t work.
I believe tire pressures would rise in FM7. When the tires were on temperature they would have increased vlues from what the tune indicated.
Does the telemetry show the tire is below pressure when cold? And increased pressure when hot?
I believe what he is saying (and from what I have seen) is that pressures are not increasing with tire temp (minimally or at all).
So the tire (cold) is at the pressure you set it at in the tuning menu and doesn’t rise after running laps.
Slicks on rain should also get cold. But there is many things like that, i don t know if it’s by deseign to make the game easier or not. Here playing with tire pressure.
So, reading the sidebar in the tire pressure menu, the pressure setting is the target pressure when hot, unlike previous Forza’s. They are also unrealistically high stock. I haven’t looked at the telemetry before the start to see what the cold pressures are, was wondering that myself. So far I’ve found around 28 psi seems to be a good setting.
Well, if that’s the case then they’re still off the mark. Hot pressures for this 2020 Stingray here should be 32 - 35. The defaults are already well above that.
True. The target pressure was always around 32 hot in this game. I’m finding that’s still too high. That’s just me though.
What I’m saying is that if they’re targeting simulation that these should be actual tried tested and true real life pressures. I found the M3 GTS pressures backwards. I own 2 E92s and my pressures are either 32 for street use or 35 front / 38 rear for higher speeds and/or spirited driving. The M3 GTS settings in game are 37.5 front / 35.5 rear.
tire pressure for all forzas was always …stock 29 psi, street and sport 28.5 and racing 28psi. this always gave u the best grip if you tune . and ive been since forza 1 and gt 1-4.
Yeah, but they changed it. Setting pressures that low in FM is no good in my testing. The pressure setting in the tuning menu is target hot pressure now. Didn’t used to be. I set a McLaren to 26 psi all around, horrible.
This is something I have been looking at too, But I think when you start the race, tires are already near temperature range. In some videos you see the pressure changing, like 0.02Bar.
Did someone try to stop and let the wheels cool down?
Also if you use Nitrogen, this doesn’t expand like Air, that is the properties of Nitrogen.
I’m fine with it being target hot pressures. That actually makes tuning a lot easier. Most cars will be 38 - 40 hot. Easy peasy. Set them based on their weight and call it a day. I didn’t know that they changed these to target hot pressures when I made this post.
I still set my psi like the older forza’s and try to get a hot temp psi around 32-34 psi…gives me good grip.
Tried that. Got better lap times by targeting 38 - 40 hot.
what are you setting your psi around?
I guess this is just another thing not carried over from FM7, which had this function.
The way the tire tuning now works is the setting is for hot pressure, not cold. So I set them to 38 - 40.
