What's the deal with brake bias in Forza?

I don’t know how long this has been the case, but I know it’s at least since Forza 6.

Why does the game think dialing a ~41% front brake bias would result in the shortest possible braking distances? That’s entirely opposite to how actual cars work. Am I missing something here? I wish I could run more stable bias like we do on our actual cars, but I lose out too much on braking distance.

I tune by feel and have always ignored the brake distance benchmarks . But I have been runing about 40% in alot of cars.

The calculator basically uses full brake, all the time, which makes it lock the tires. If you tune the brakes in such a way that lockup is no longer possible, then you’ll see the numbers go down significantly. You can achieve similar results by (usually) just using 90% of your brakes when you’re racing instead of 100% to help prevent unwanted lockup.

I dont trust this part of the benchmarking and I dont think you are getting the reduced braking distance it says. I’ve played with the settings, including settings that should not affect braking at all, and watch the benchmark go all over the place before settling down - then you take the car out on the track and it doesnt stop any better than before.

Somebody who’s real consistent on the brakes should do a test. I unfortunately struggle with the vague indications the vibrations give and usually don’t get maximum output from the brakes. If we could debunk this one, that would be great!

Eh, mitigate slight inconsistency with adding extra runs and comparing the average. The test can probably be performed on a track with a long straight on flat ground. Pick an easy to use market ahead of the number boards and record where the car comes to a stop.

I’ve actually been meaning to do this, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Mitigate braking inconsistencies with an elite controller, Doesn’t it have some sort of trigger lock function? The other issue is coming to a compleat stop, low speed physics make the brakes do something odd.

I tuned brake bias by feel, and adjusted it to how I wanted the car to behave when trail braking.
