What does the color of your gamer tag mean? Mine is red I race highly skilled no abs sim steering no tcs no stm auto shift no driving line sim damage rewind off does that have something to do with it?
Isn’t it to do with your player level? ie 123

It means nothing… it means someone with a few dozen hours may have a nice gold colour and look like an elite pro, but someone else who has played thousands of hours may have a lame common colour and look like they just got the game 
Esentially just reused code from FH1 and 2 where your character got colored armbands that show how much of the festival you have access to. It really has no context in FH4
As you level up, you will go through most of the colors. Somewhere around level 400, you’ll gain a little number next to your color and it will reset to level 1. This little number shows how many times you have gone through all of the levels.
Its actually 200 the first time
Then 300 from then
Then 400 from that
And so on …adding 100 each prestige
