As a new player to FM2 I wanted to see how high up the leaderboard I could get but primarily to see if I could into top 1000 overall. Got the game January 2022 - aware that there were DLC tracks for FM2. Road America and 4 tracks at Twin Motegi (Full, West, East and Oval). Originally had FM4 and could not get into top 1000 without DLC. Then got FM3 and could get into top 1000 without DLC.
Last month after hearing that FM2 servers had been turned back on at as far as the leaderboards (scoreboards), I focused on really seeing about posting a lap time in each class on each track. At that time I didn’t have the DLC tracks and that was ok. But somestimes wishes come true. So this month I’m going the chart the progress I can make now that I have those tracks.
Step 1. Time trials.
Step 2. Road America for each class.
Step 3. Motegi Speedway.
Step 4,5 & 6. Motegi East, West & Full for each class.
Step 7. Summary.

Future posts to show progress once steps 3 to 6 done. Plan to do a step in one day and finish steps 3-6 by end of month (but next week not out of the question either).
Other thoughts.
In FM2, races were organized differently in that as you got better cars you could use them to crush the AI still using the same cars. Finish last no credit, just record the race time and best lap time in class. I liked FM4 where even if you finished last you still progressed with affinity. Playing last year and while servers were up, FM4 still my main game; so many leaderboards (but unable access now).
So the answer for me so far is 1006 with a combined time 12hr30min17sec. If I can shave off the 17 seconds I can get to 1005. So top 1000? Hey, I think I got very close. Maybe I’ve missed something or had a dirty lap. There are some laps in D class from early 2022 that I intend let stand for now but I think the biggest scope for improvement is in the Unrestricted cars. Basically just used the 2005 Chrysler Concept car The leaderboard car is the F50. I don’t like the look of them and it’s has been my aim to NOT use the LB cars. I can see why it is thou, with all the upgrades it has the highest PI.

So i missed a lap - what difference does it make.
Not much an alot.
So my overall time is down to 12hr02min22sec and rank 862 YEAH.
The hotlap leaderboards are down again where I am (but the career leaderboards are bizarrely still up?), but here’s an outdated photo of my rank and time. I’ve since climbed to 156th overall (with a time of approximately 11 hrs, 14 min, and 35 seconds) by revisiting tracks in classes that I haven’t messed with since 2017. My time trial rank is 113th, but I don’t remember the overall time for that. If you’re still working on R2, and assuming the servers are reactivated again, one good piece of advice is to use TPR LoU’s tunes (most of his are downloadable, and are really good in my experience), or just download my setups (which are mostly his tunes with better brake settings).
The hotlap leaderboards came back shortly after I made my previous post, and I’ve been busy since then. I’ve beaten all my old personal bests, and climbed up to 85th in hotlap and 99th in time trials.
